Here, we show that the offspring of high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mothers (HFD-reared pups) developed an sLRI following pneumovirus inoculation in early life and subsequent asthma in later life upon allergen exposure. Prior to infection, HFD-reared pups developed microbial dysbiosis and low-grade systemic inflammation (LGSI), characterized by hyperneutropoiesis in the liver and elevated inflammatory cytokine expression, most notably granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), interleukin-17A (IL-17A), IL-6 and soluble IL-6 receptor (sIL-6R) (indicative of IL-6 trans-signaling) in the circulation and multiple organs but most prominently the liver.

Kavalactones, derived from the root of the kava plant ( Forst), have been shown to elevate mood and wellbeing by producing a feeling of relaxation without addiction or cognitive impairment.
Methods: In this placebo-controlled, crossover study (NCT05381025), we investigated the effects of 2 weeks of kavalactones use on cortisol (diurnal salivary), sleep (RSQ-W; Restorative Sleep Questionnaire, Weekly), mood (DASS-21; Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21), and motivation state to expend (Move) or conserve (Rest) energy (CRAVE; Cravings for Rest and Volitional Energy Expenditure, Right Now) in a cohort of 15 healthy, physically fit young males engaged in a rigorous, two-a-day preparation class for special operations forces qualification.

Methods: Participants included children with cancer history (8-17 years) stratified by time since diagnosis and their parent. At enrollment, parents (n = 254) reported depression and anxiety, and post-traumatic stress symptoms, posttraumatic growth (PTG), and benefit finding in relation to their child's cancer.
Objective: To identify clinicopathological or radiological factors that may predict a diagnosis of upper urinary tract urothelial cell carcinoma (UTUC) to inform which patients can proceed directly to radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) without the delay for diagnostic ureteroscopy (URS).
Patients And Methods: All consecutive patients investigated for suspected UTUC in a high-volume UK centre between 2011 and 2017 were identified through retrospective analysis of surgical logbooks and a prospectively maintained pathology database. Details on clinical presentation, radiological findings, and URS/RNU histopathology results were evaluated.
