Atrial fibrillation (AF) and coronary artery disease are frequently associated and, when so, lead to a grim prognosis. Recent studies suggest the presence of interconnected pathophysiological pathways between the 2 conditions that can promote and aggravate each other, igniting a vicious cycle. Notwithstanding, in contrast with the attention dedicated to the management of antithrombotic treatment, research on other aspects of coronary artery disease in AF is only recently gaining traction.

An increase in early-late recurrences after cryoablation is reported as an important disadvantage.
Objectives: In this study, we aimed to compare the acute procedural success and the long-term recurrence rates of patients, with AVNRT who underwent methods.
Background: Occupational exposure to charcoal smoke and dust is a threat to workers' respiratory systems.
Research Question: What is the prevalence of COPD in charcoal workers compared with that of farmers in rural areas of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)?
Study Design And Methods: This cross-sectional, comparative, and multisite study was performed in the charcoal-producing provinces of southwestern DRC. We randomly included charcoal workers and compared them with farmers (age range, 18-70 years).
Patients with cardiac disease exhibit exaggerated sympathoexcitation, pressor, and ventilatory responses to muscle metaboreflex activation (MMA). However, the effects of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) and especially resistance training (RT) modalities on MMA are not well known. This study investigated how CR impacts MMA in such patients, specifically examining the effects of two different resistance training (RT) protocols following 12 weeks of CR.

This study explores the integration of SCG acquired through smartphone technology by assessing the accuracy of metrics derived from smartphone recordings and their consistency when performed by patients. Therefore, we assessed smartphone-derived SCG's reliability in computing median kinetic energy parameters per record in 220 patients with various cardiovascular conditions.

Endomyocardial fibrosis, less common and occasionally associated with intracardiac thrombus, is reported in <20 case reports of BD, among which, three cases are described to mimic Ebstein disease based on echocardiography. We present the first case in the literature of a 34-year-old man with BD diagnosed with multiple cardiovascular complications, highlighting the challenging diagnosis and treatment of this pathology, especially regarding anticoagulation therapy.

Therefore, it could induce more metabolic stress in people with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) or coronary artery disease (CAD). This randomized cross-over study tested this hypothesis.

Nevertheless, an in-depth characterisation of coronary physiology in patients with AF is currently lacking.
Objectives: We aim to provide an insight into the characteristics of coronary physiology in AF, by performing simultaneous invasive measurements of coronary flow- and pressure- indices in a real-life population of patients with AF and indication of coronary angiography.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the relationship between serum uric acid levels and endothelial function, oxidative stress, and hemodynamic parameters, and to determine if uric acid levels provide additional insights beyond traditional factors like ageing and hypertension in volunteers with low cardiovascular risk factors. Serum uric acid is known for its antioxidant properties, but it may also contribute to cardiovascular risk.
Materials And Methods: The study enrolled 40 male participants, divided into three groups based on age and blood pressure status.
Background: Heart failure (HF) remains a major cause of mortality, morbidity, and poor quality of life. 44% of HF patients present impaired left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). Kinocardiography (KCG) technology combines ballistocardiography (BCG) and seismocardiography (SCG).

Methods: Individuals with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF, n = 23) or coronary artery disease (CAD, n = 22) and healthy controls (CTRL, n = 29) participated in this randomized crossover trial of RT exercises at 70% of the one-maximal repetition on a leg extension machine. Peak heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP) were measured noninvasively.
To explore the impact of omecamtiv mecarbil (OM) on the gene expression profile in adult male rats. Fourteen male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to a single OM (1.2 mg/kg/h; n = 6) or placebo (n = 8) 30-min infusion.

Methods: Twenty-one young healthy adults repeated three CPET at the same time with an interval of 7 days between each test. The tests were performed 3 h after a random, double-blind, cross-over single-dose intake of placebo, 2.
Ballistocardiography (BCG) and seismocardiography (SCG) are non-invasive techniques used to record the micromovements induced by cardiovascular activity at the body's center of mass and on the chest, respectively. Since their inception, their potential for evaluating cardiovascular health has been studied. However, both BCG and SCG are impacted by respiration, leading to a periodic modulation of these signals.

This rehabilitation program combined interval training exercises on a bike and resistance exercises for major muscle groups.

We evaluated some parameters of blood flow and vascular stiffness during 60 days of simulated microgravity in head-down tilt (HDT) bed rest. We also tested the hypothesis that daily exposure to 30 min of artificial gravity (1 g) would mitigate these adaptations.

Background: Chemerin is an extracellular protein with chemotactic activities and its expression is increased in various diseases such as metabolic syndrome and inflammatory conditions. Its role in lung pathology has not yet been extensively studied but both known pro- and anti-inflammatory properties have been observed. The aim of our study was to evaluate the involvement of the chemerin/ChemR23 system in the physiopathology of COVID-19 with a particular focus on its prognostic value.

The clinical impact of correct assessment of coronary stenosis in AF is particularly high in light of the antithrombotic therapy imposed by both AF and coronary stenting.
Objectives: Given the hemodynamic variability and microvascular dysfunction described in AF, the aim of this study was to evaluate the hyperemic response to intracoronary adenosine in AF in comparison with sinus rhythm (SR).
Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of death in Belgium. Current strategies for the prevention and management of CVD focus on reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels. This analysis assessed whether LDL-C goals, recommended by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC)/European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) guidelines, were being achieved in a Belgian study population.

Since amlodipine is both a CCB and a FIASMA, the aim of this study was to investigate the association between chronic amlodipine use and the survival of people with hypertension infected with COVID-19. This retrospective cohort study used data extracted from the medical records of adult inpatients with hypertension and laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 between 1 March 2020 and 31 August 2020 with definite outcomes (discharged from hospital or deceased) from Erasme Hospital (Brussels, Belgium).
