Knowledge and practice of health workers towards maternal and child health in the Democratic Republic of the Congo: a cross-sectional study.

Background: The burden of maternal and child mortality is high in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). While health workers (HWs) with adequate knowledge and practice of maternal and child health (MCH) are crucial to reduce this burden, the skill level of HWs in charge of MCH in the DRC is currently insufficient. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and practice of HWs towards MCH in Kasai and Maniema, two DRC provinces with very high maternal mortality ratios and under-5 mortality rates.

A roadmap for the digital management of long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets (LLINs) distribution campaigns in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The use of the long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito net (LLIN) is one of the basic interventions recommended by the Global technical strategy for Malaria 2016-2030. Since the start of the LLIN distribution campaigns in 2006 in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), it was based on paper tools leading to poor quality data. The first digital campaigns date back to 2014 through "Interchurch medical assistance" (IMA), which used the ODK collect application for recording household count data and LLIN distribution data.

Diagnosis and management of a urethral prolapse in a 6-year-old girl: a case report.

Urethral prolapse is a very rare disease, which is most often found in prepubescent girls. It occurs in about one over 5000 girls in the context of a chronic cough or any situation that increases abdominal pressure. It is often associated with diagnostic confusion, which delays management.

An operational comparative study of quinine and artesunate for the treatment of severe malaria in hospitals and health centres in the Democratic Republic of Congo: the MATIAS study.

Background: The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has the highest number of severe malaria cases in the world. In early 2012, the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) changed the policy for treating severe malaria in children and adults from injectable quinine to injectable artesunate. To inform the scaling up of injectable artesunate nationwide, operational research is needed to identify constraints and challenges in the DRC's specific setting.
