Article Synopsis
  • Radiocarbon analysis is vital in forensic anthropology for determining the postmortem interval of skeletal remains and establishing medico-legal significance.
  • Three case studies from Northern France demonstrate the effectiveness of radiocarbon dating, with varying degrees of forensic relevance and identity confirmation.
  • The findings emphasize the importance of radiocarbon dating methods, like traditional and bomb-pulse dating, benefiting both archaeological research and forensic investigations.

Isopropyl alcohol, or propan-2-ol (IPA), is found in numerous chemicals including alcohol-based hand rubs whose use has been recently widely extended to the general population since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This widespread of IPA use could potentially, but not necessarily, be responsible for an increase in IPA poisoning cases (e.g.

Alphaviruses, including Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), produce a transient illness in humans, but severe forms leading to chronic incapacitating arthralgia/arthritis have been reported by mechanisms largely ill-characterized. The pathogenesis of CHIKV was addressed in a prospective cohort study of 49 hospitalized patients from Reunion Island subsequently categorized into two distinct groups at 12 mo postinfection. Comprehensive analyses of the clinical and immunological parameters throughout the disease course were analyzed in either the "recovered" or the "chronic" groups to identify prognostic markers of arthritis-like pathology after CHIKV disease.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Philippe Morbidelli"

  • - Philippe Morbidelli's recent research highlights the integration of radiocarbon dating in forensic anthropology, emphasizing its role in establishing the postmortem interval and supporting forensic identification through detailed case studies involving skeletal remains.
  • - His work on isopropyl alcohol explores the implications of increased usage in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, pointing to challenges in accurately interpreting postmortem concentrations and the potential rise in poisoning cases.
  • - Morbidelli has also investigated the chronic effects of Chikungunya virus, focusing on the long-term inflammation and immune response in patients, which uncovers significant insights into the mechanisms behind persistent arthralgia and potential prognostic markers.
