Background: Because of the adverse effects of morphine and its derivatives, non-opioid analgesia procedures are proposed after outpatient surgery. Without opioids, the ability to provide quality analgesia after the patient returns home may be questioned. Background: Several studies showed that an enhanced recovery protocol for colorectal surgery reduces postoperative morbidity and mortality, and shortens the length of hospital stay. The development of such a program has allowed us to gradually reduce the length of stay for colorectal surgery, until ambulatory management.
