Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess different MRI techniques for distinguishing between various neurodegenerative Parkinson syndromes (NPS) like Parkinson's disease, multiple system atrophy, and progressive supranuclear palsy.
  • Researchers analyzed macrostructural and microstructural MRI data from patients with NPS and healthy controls, using machine learning to compare their diagnostic performances.
  • The results indicated that combining macrostructural and microstructural MRI provided the best classification accuracy, highlighting the added value of advanced imaging techniques over traditional methods.

Background And Purpose: To develop a fully automatic algorithm for the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) identification of patients with spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH).

Material And Methods: A support vector machine (SVM) was trained with structured reports of 140 patients with clinically suspected SIH. Venous sinuses and basal cisterns were segmented on contrast-enhanced T1-weighted MPRAGE (Magnetization Prepared-Rapid Gradient Echo) sequences using a convolutional neural network (CNN).

Cerebral aneurysms are a major risk factor for intracranial bleeding with devastating consequences for the patient. One recently established treatment is the implantation of flow-diverters (FD). Methods to predict their treatment success before or directly after implantation are not well investigated yet.
