In this work, the magnetic states and thermally induced spin currents in graphene nanoflake sizes with different sizes and shapes have been investigated using Hubbard model combined with non-equilibrium Green's function method. In addition to the antiferromagnetic (AFM) state governed by the sizes, shapes, armchair bond densities, and Coulomb energy, our calculations have also pointed out the emergence of ferromagnetic (FM) and complex magnetic states when the gate voltage is invoked in the graphene nanoflakes. More prominently, by exploiting the geometric symmetry of the nanoflakes without external fields, a pure spin current and zero charge current are generated in spin caloritronic device when the graphene nanoflakes are both in the AFM and FM states.

According to dermatology and allergy guidelines, moisturizers should be applied on the skin within 3 min after bathing or showering. However, there is very little evidence supporting this recommendation.

The severity of EA occurs on a spectrum that results in varying degrees of tricuspid regurgitation, atrial dilation, RV dilation, and dysfunction. These effects have the potential to create substrates that can give rise to atrial arrhythmia, ventricular arrhythmia, and a greater incidence of Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome Wackel et al.

The oxidation potential of alkyl -glucosides, estimated herein from square-wave voltammetry peak potentials (), depends on the steric properties of the aglycone. Glucosides substituted with bulky groups exhibit values at voltages more positive than the values of those carrying small aglycones.

Recent studies have suggested underdosing of both benzodiazepines (BZDs) and antiseizure medications (ASM) which may result in poorer outcomes. This study aims to determine the dose of BZDs and levetiracetam given in our emergency department for episodes of SE and determine the outcomes associated with this dosing.

Structural and biochemical studies have identified a histone surface on each side of the nucleosome disk termed 'the nucleosome acidic patch' that acts as a regulatory hub for the function of numerous nuclear proteins, including ATP-dependent chromatin complexes (remodelers). Four major remodeler subfamilies, SWI/SNF, ISWI, CHD, and INO80, have distinct modes of interaction with one or both nucleosome acidic patches, contributing to their specific remodeling outcomes. Genome-wide sequencing analyses of various human cancers have uncovered high-frequency mutations in histone coding genes, including some that map to the acidic patch.

Incidence of liver cancer has been increasing in recent years, and the 5-year survival is <20%. HCC and CCA are often accompanied with a dense stroma coupled with infiltrated immune cells, which is referred to as the tumor microenvironment.

Autopsy has historically been used to detect injuries, but few undergo formal autopsy. This study investigates the utility of post-mortem computed tomography (PMCT) for injury identification in a diverse trauma population.

Aortic dissection and rupture are the major causes of premature death in persons with Marfan syndrome (MFS), a rare genetic disorder featuring cardiovascular, skeletal, and ocular impairments. We and others have found that obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) confers significant vascular stress in this population and may accelerate aortic disease progression. We hypothesized that D-dimer, a diagnostic biomarker for several types of vascular injury that is also elevated in persons with MFS with aortic enlargement, may be sensitive to cardiovascular stresses caused by OSA.

The baseline data of radioactivity levels in food is one of the main factors for the assessment of resident's health risk. Gross beta and alpha activity was identified for selected commercial freshwater fish species, including 29 types of fish species by a gas-flow proportional detector. The samples were collected from wholesale markets in Hanoi city, Vietnam.

During the handoff, your resident colleague tells you that the patient is 'oozing a lot and that the operating team, after a diligent search for bleeding sites, does not believe that the oozing is 'surgical.' She announces that your job will, therefore, be to stop the ongoing oozing, while, of course, being alert to the possible development of tamponade physiology.

Reverse-genetics studies of viral genes and mutations have proven highly valuable in advancing basic virus research, leading to the development of therapeutics. We developed a functional and highly versatile full-length SARS-CoV-2 infectious system by cloning the sequence of a COVID-19 associated virus isolate (DK-AHH1) into a bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC).

The comorbid relationship between rising blood pressure, a decline in mood and motivation, and body weight gain after menopause, when estrogen levels drop, suggests that the same brain area(s) contributes to protection from all of these postmenopausal disorders. The amygdala, a major limbic system nuclear complex known to express high estrogen receptor levels, is involved in the regulation of such physiological and psychological responses.

Few studies have delved into OTs' experiences and encapsulated if and how spirituality has been experienced in practice. This study aimed to gain a deeper and more updated insight into this phenomenon.
