Existing studies of political polarization are often limited to a single country and one form of polarization, hindering a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. Here we investigate patterns of polarization online across nine countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Turkey, UK, USA), focusing on the structure of political interaction networks, the use of toxic language targeting out-groups, and how these factors relate to user engagement. First, we show that political interaction networks are structurally polarized on Twitter (currently X).

Although previous meta-analyses have explored the correlates of nurse burnout, none have estimated their association with health care quality and safety and patient morbidity and mortality.
Objective: To evaluate the magnitude and moderators of the association between nurse burnout and patient safety, patient satisfaction, and quality of care.
Histone acetyltransferases and are paralogs highly expressed in the intestinal epithelium, but their functions are not well understood. In this study, double knockout of murine genes in the intestinal epithelium was lethal, resulting in robust activation of interferon signaling and interferon-associated phenotypes including the loss of intestinal stem cells. Use of pharmacological agents and sterile organoid cultures indicated a cell-intrinsic double-stranded RNA trigger for interferon signaling.

Purpose: The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the success and reasons for failure of single unit and splinted implant-supported crowns provided in a dental school.
Material And Methods: Using the axiUm dental management software program and paper charts, all single unit and splinted implant-supported crowns provided between September 1989 and January 2020 were included for evaluation.
Background: This study investigates the subjective perceptions of food poverty in Germany by analysing Twitter discourse using the German-language hashtag #IchBinArmutsbetroffen (#IamPovertyAffected) and examines the extent to which various dimensions of a multidimensional theoretical model of food poverty are represented in the discourse.
Methods: Employing a combination of computational social science and qualitative social research methods, the research identifies, and analyses tweets related to nutrition by applying a hierarchical dictionary search and qualitative content analysis. By examining the narratives and statements of individuals affected by food poverty, the study also investigates the interplay among different subdimensions of this phenomenon.
Background And Aims: Several faecal microbial transplantation [FMT] approaches for ulcerative colitis [UC] have been investigated with conflicting results. We have recently published the clinical outcomes from the CRAFT UC Trial using FMT with the UC Exclusion Diet [UCED], compared with FMT alone. Here we aimed to compare the two FMT strategies in terms of microbial profile and function.

A challenging but commonly encountered procedure is retrofitting a crown to an existing removable partial denture. Several techniques have been proposed for fabricating these complex prostheses, some involving the intraoral application of polymers to the abutment tooth or making impressions of the preparation with the removable prosthesis seated.

For EP device testing, living cells or tissue inside a living organism (including animals) are needed. Plant-based models seem to be a promising alternative to substitute animal models in research.

Previous research ranges from personality trait prediction to alternative cancer treatments. However, there is an ongoing debate on whether these virtual worlds are able to represent real world scenarios.

About half of these cases can be attributed predominantly to a male factor, such as a quantitative or qualitative impairment in spermatogenesis. The first-line genetic screening for non-obstructive azoospermia is limited to karyotyping (to identify chromosome abnormalities) and Y chromosome microdeletions screening, with a view to explaining the spermatogenetic failure and evaluating the likelihood of sperm retrieval in a testicular biopsy.

Most studies of the effects of stress and depression focus on their causes and consequences for a individual. We examine the extent to which depression, as indicated by filling antidepressant prescriptions (SSRI and Benzodiazepines), co-occurs across spouses, constituting a negative spillover effect.

Objective: To evaluate the utility of the Activity Measure for Post-Acute Care (AM-PAC) "6 Clicks" Daily Activity and Basic Mobility forms to determine the next level of rehabilitation after hospitalization for adults with stroke.
Design: Retrospective cohort design using medical records from 2015 to 2016.
Time-variable gravity measurements from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and GRACE Follow-On (GRACE-FO) missions have opened up a new avenue of opportunities for studying large-scale mass redistribution and transport in the Earth system. Over the past 19 years, GRACE/GRACE-FO time-variable gravity measurements have been widely used to study mass variations in different components of the Earth system, including the hydrosphere, ocean, cryosphere, and solid Earth, and significantly improved our understanding of long-term variability of the climate system. We carry out a comprehensive review of GRACE/GRACE-FO satellite gravimetry, time-variable gravity fields, data processing methods, and major applications in several different fields, including terrestrial water storage change, global ocean mass variation, ice sheets and glaciers mass balance, and deformation of the solid Earth.

The correct diagnosis of bullet embolism can be challenging in an emergency care setting, often requiring a combination of clinical, radiological and surgical resources. The management of a venous missile embolism depends on characteristics such as size and location of the projectile, and must be highly individualized for each patient.

Methods: Using data from more than 50,000 responses to Britain's Healthiest Workplace survey, we employed structural equation modeling to investigate the effects of people volunteering.
Results: Net of a number of controls, people who volunteered reported better self-reported health, less risk of depression, and higher levels of engagement and satisfaction.
Background: We evaluated whether integration of novel diets for donors and patients, in addition to faecal transplantation [FT], could increase FT remission rate in refractory ulcerative colitis [UC].
Methods: This was a blinded, randomised, controlled trial in adults with active UC, defined by a simple clinical colitis activity index [SCCAI] of ≥5 and ≤11 and endoscopic Mayo score 2-3, refractory to medication. Group 1 received free diet and single donor standard FT by colonoscopy on Day 1and rectal enemas on Days 2 and 14 without dietary conditioning of the donor.
Skin cancers are the most common malignancy and are especially common among light-skinned individuals in sun-exposed areas. While in many cases, a characteristic or classic appearance of the lesion is sufficient to make a definitive diagnosis, shave biopsy remains an important procedure when diagnosing many such raised lesions. Over the span of two months, a 66-year-old Caucasian male noted the appearance of a small, raised pruritic scaly lesion over his right upper chest.

Depression not only creates enormous costs for treatment and lost work time, but also increases the risk for other costly chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The magnitude of these risks remains unclear, with existing prospective studies using small sample sizes with limited diversity and reliant on surveys. We use 2 billion prescription fill records to quantify depression by antidepressant fill records.

The P23H mutation of rod opsin is the most common cause of human binding autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa (ADRP), but the precise mechanism by which this mutation leads to photoreceptor cell degeneration has not yet been elucidated. Our measurements confirm conformational instability in the global modes of the receptor and an active-state that uncouples the torsional dynamics of the retinal with protein functional modes, indicating inefficient signaling in P23H and a drastically altered mechanism of activation when contrasted with the wild-type receptor.

Metrics were developed from data collected during an experiment in which racially diverse participants interacted with self-resembling avatars at social events hosted in the virtual world Second Life. In the qualitative stage, the researchers conceptualized four distinct patterns of movement from overhead video recreations of participants interacting during the social events.
