The objective of the present study was to evaluate the 5-year outcome of dental implant therapy and assess the survival, success, and biological and technical complications. A periodontal and prosthetic-oriented evaluation was conducted on the variables that can influence the long-term predictability of implant therapy. Aims: To investigate the prevalence of periodontitis in a young population representative for the North-western part of Romania (Transylvania) and to identify possible risk indicators of periodontitis.
Methods: The study is a cross-sectional epidemiological survey. The subjects were students randomly sampled from three universities in Cluj-Napoca and high school students from the neighboring city of Bistrita.
Objectives: The success of ridge preservation techniques in reducing bone resorption is well documented, but no clear guidelines have been provided regarding the type of the biomaterial or technique to be used. This experimental animal study aimed at comparing the effectiveness of two ridge preservation techniques.
Materials And Methods: Following the extraction of the distal roots of the mandibular second and fourth premolars of four dogs, the sockets were preserved using a combination of a collagen membrane intimately covering the socket plus a collagen matrix or a collagen membrane alone.
Background And Aims: A new pathological entity with distinct clinicopathological features has been recently described and termed as juvenile spongiotic gingivitis. Histopathological associated features are unique and characterized by prominent intercellular edema (spongiosis) and neutrophil infiltrate. The aims of this paper were to: introduce juvenile spongiotic gingivitis to the dental and pediatric communities, to report three cases based on clinical and histopathological findings, and to discuss the most common clinical differential diagnoses.

Reducing shock burden for patients with ICDs and cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds) may have beneficial consequences. This may be achieved by avoiding inappropriate shocks for supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and by limiting appropriate shocks to only those that are necessary to convert ventricular arrhythmias.

We investigated whether LA events are reflected in the surface ECG and whether additional information can be obtained from recording posterior leads in patients with AF.
Methods And Results: In 10 patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation of AF, we identified 103 5-second segments with a significant frequency gradient between right (RA) and left (LA) intraatrial electrograms, or with frequency changes from segment to segment in the same patient.
Background: Recording and displaying outputs from electronic pacemakers with electrocardiogram (ECG) recorders typically used in clinical practice have presented a number of technical limitations. We have recently reported on a new high-bandwidth ECG system and have shown that it is capable of reproducing accurate pulse amplitudes and durations from the body surface. In the present work, we have used our data to calculate a transform function between the programmed pacemaker output voltage and the amplitude on the body surface.

The present paper reports biochemical and neurophysiological investigations in ten cases with restless leg syndrome. Other neuropsychiatric affections and factors which could generate the symptomatology of restless legs syndrome were not included. The EEG recordings demonstrated evident reticular neuronal hypersynchrony generated by hyperpnoea (sinusoidal slow waves).
