Background: Tumour associated macrophages (TAMs) are important players in breast tumour progression and metastasis. Clinical and preclinical evidence suggests a role for zoledronate (ZOL) in breast cancer metastasis prevention. Further, zoledronate is able to induce inflammatory activation of monocytes and macrophages, which can be favourable in cancer treatments.

Introduction: Bisphosphonates (BPs) are bone-protecting osteoclast inhibitors, typically used in the treatment of osteoporosis and skeletal complications of malignancies. Aim: To purify the platelet aggregation inhibitor from Echis multisquamatis snake venom (PAIEM) and characterize its effect on platelet aggregation and HeLa cell proliferation.

Methods: Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) were used for PAIEM identification. Platelet aggregation in the presence of PAIEM was studied on aggregometer Solar-AP2110.

[Use of lactusan for the correction of microecological intestinal disturbances in children].

The study demonstrated that lactusan (lactulose) could be used as an effective remedy in dysbacteriosis. Twenty four sick children aged 1 month to 15 years were examined.
