The levels of anti-Müllerian hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and testosterone were studied in rats after removal of the uterine horns, oviducts, or combined surgery. The effects of preventive salpingectomy on ovarian reserve were studied. After preventive salpingectomy, the level of anti-Müllerian hormone was low throughout the experiment, follicle-stimulating hormone increased only by the end of observation (on day 40), and testosterone level decreased only on day 10.

We performed whole-genome sequencing of five permafrost strains of (frozen for 15-3000 thousand years) and analyzed their resistance genes found in plasmids and chromosomes. Four strains contained multiple plasmids (8-12), which varied significantly in size (from 4,135 to 287,630 bp) and genetic structure; the fifth strain contained only two plasmids. All large plasmids and some medium-size and small plasmids contained genes encoding resistance to various heavy metals, including mercury, cobalt, zinc, cadmium, copper, chromium, and arsenic compounds.

The development of an aptamer-based electrochemical sensor for lung cancer detection is presented in this work. A highly specific DNA-aptamer, LC-18, selected to postoperative lung cancer tissues was immobilized onto a gold microelectrode and electrochemical measurements were performed in a solution containing the redox marker ferrocyanide/ferricyanide. The aptamer protein targets were harvested from blood plasma of lung cancer patients by using streptavidin paramagnetic beads and square wave voltammetry of the samples was performed at various concentrations.

The amount of sesquiterpene lactones and the lactone profile of Arnica montana L. in flowering and seed formation stages in vitro and in vivo propagated from seeds of German, Ukrainian, and Austrian origin and grown in two experimental fields were studied. It was found that in vitro propagated 2-year plants in full flowering stage accumulated higher amount of lactones in comparison to in vivo propagated 3-year plants and to the seed formation stage, respectively.

A complex cascade of solid-state processes initiated by variation of temperature was found for the heterospin complex [Cu(hfac)2L(Me/Et)] formed in the reaction of copper(II) hexafluoroacetylacetonate [Cu(hfac)2] with stable nitronyl nitroxide 2-(1-methyl-3-ethyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazole-3-oxide-1-oxyl (L(Me/Et)). The cooling of the compound below 260 K initiated a solid-state chemical reaction, which led to a depolymerization of chains and formation of a pair heterospin complex [Cu(hfac)2L(Me/Et)2][[Cu(hfac)2]3L(Me/Et)2]. The straightforward synthesis of sodium 4-toluenesulfonyloxymethyl-(H)-phosphinate and (H)-phosphinomethylisothiouronium tosylate as new reagents for the preparation of O- and S-methyl-(H)-phosphinic acid derivatives, respectively, is described. The reactivity of both reagents was demonstrated by the preparation of protected 2'-deoxyribonucleoside-O-methyl-(H)-phosphinates in the 5'- and 3'-series and 2',5'-dideoxyribonucleoside-5'-S-methyl-(H)-phosphinates. These compounds represent a new class of monomers compatible with the solid phase synthesis of oligonucleotides by H-phosphonate chemistry, as it was proved with the synthesis of a fully phosphonate heptamer.

The cyclization of arylalkynes under selenobromination conditions, combined with an acid-induced 3,2-aryl shift, was elaborated as a general synthetic pathway for the preparation of polyhydroxy-2- and -3-arylbenzo[b]selenophenes from the same starting materials. The redox properties, free-radical-scavenging ability, and cytotoxicity against malignant cell lines (MCF-7, MDA-MB-231, HepG2, and 4T1) of the synthesized compounds were explored, and the obtained results were used to consider the structure-activity relationships (SARs) in these compounds. Consequently, the structural features that were responsible for the highly potent peroxyl-radical-scavenging activity were established.

Hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma (HSTCL) is a rare, aggressive type of peripheral T-cell lymphoma that is characterised by extranodal disease, with infiltration and proliferation of malignant T-cells within the liver, spleen and bone marrow. The authors report the case of a young immunocompetent man, who was admitted to the hospital with a history of prolonged, unexplained fever, fatigue and weight loss. Initial blood work showed mild pancytopaenia and imaging studies revealed hepatosplenomegaly.
