Background: Some chiropractors use spinal x-rays to inform care, but the relationship between radiographic findings and outcomes is unclear. This study examined the association between radiographic findings and 30% improvement in back-related disability in older adults after receiving 12 weeks of chiropractic spinal manipulation and home exercise instruction.
Methods: This IRB-approved secondary analysis used randomized trial data of community-dwelling adults age ≥ 65 with chronic spinal pain and disability.

Objectives: Shorter pauses in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are associated with better health outcomes after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Our primary objective was to examine the effect of a RapidShock defibrillator software upgrade compared with standard defibrillator software on the length of perishock pause during care for OHCA among adults. Secondary objectives were to assess the effects of RapidShock on other CPR pauses.

Methods: In the IRONMAN trial, 1137 patients with heart failure, ejection fraction ≤ 45%, and either serum ferritin < 100 µg/L or transferrin saturation (TSAT) < 20% were randomized to intravenous ferric derisomaltose (FDI) or usual care. Relationships were investigated between baseline anaemia severity, ferritin and TSAT, to changes in haemoglobin from baseline to 4 months, Minnesota Living with Heart Failure (MLwHF) score and 6-minute walk distance achieved at 4 months, and clinical events, including heart failure hospitalization (recurrent) or cardiovascular death.
Results: The rise in haemoglobin after administering FDI, adjusted for usual care, was greater for lower baseline TSAT (Pinteraction < .
Movement of resources was essential to the survival and success of early complex societies. The sources and destinations of goods and the means of transportation - be it by boats, carts and/or foot - can often be inferred, but the logistics of these movements are inherently more difficult to ascertain. Here, we use strontium isotopic analysis to test hypotheses about the role of animal and animal-powered transport in medium and long-distance movement and exchange, using the Indus Civilization as a case study.

Objective: To co-design a person-centred coding framework to assist in the analysis of qualitative PREMs data.
This paper presents two algorithms for the large-scale automatic detection and instance segmentation of potential archaeological mounds on historical maps. Historical maps present a unique source of information for the reconstruction of ancient landscapes. The last 100 years have seen unprecedented landscape modifications with the introduction and large-scale implementation of mechanised agriculture, channel-based irrigation schemes, and urban expansion to name but a few.

To help support this goal, faculty and staff from the National Collaborative for Education to Address the Social Determinants of Health built a digital platform for health professions educators to access and share curricular work related to SDOH. As of 2022, this online resource included more than 200 curricula focused on SDOH and additional content related to both SDOH and health equity.

Period tracking techniques determine the absolute FPC length, but with larger uncertainties from tracking the spacing between multiple peaks. A hybrid method is demonstrated that identifies appropriate peaks for phase tracking using a coarse estimate obtained from the free spectral range to effectively maintain the high precision (∼1 nm) of phase tracking techniques to measure ∼24 µm displacements, well beyond the range limitations (typically <1 µm) of phase tracking methods.

Ur, in present-day southern Iraq, was one of the largest and most important of these cities, and irrigation-based agriculture and large herds of domesticated animals were the twin mainstays of the economy and diet. Texts suggest that the societies of the Mesopotamian city-states were extremely hierarchical and underpinned by institutionalised and heavily-managed farming systems.

We interface these tools with the Open Knowledgebase of Interatomic Models and study three models based on the Lennard-Jones, Morse, and Stillinger-Weber potentials. We confirm that IPs are typically sloppy, i.

Materials And Methods: After reviewing patient records related to quality assurance, 125 digital impressions and the produced restorations were evaluated. Effectiveness and acceptability of digital impressions and restorations were associated with students' educational level, number of prepared teeth scanned, type of produced restoration, and restorative material used.
Optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR) is a spectral measurement technique in which shifts in the local Rayleigh backscatter spectra can be used to perform distributed temperature or strain measurements relative to a reference measurement using ordinary single-mode optical fibers. This work demonstrates a data processing methodology for improving the resolvable range of temperature and strain by adaptively varying the reference measurement position by position, based on the time evolution of the local optical intensities and the correlation between the reference and active measurements. These methods nearly double the resolvable range of temperature and strain compared with that achieved using the traditional static reference approach.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFOptical backscatter reflectometry (OBR) is an interferometric technique that can be used to measure local changes in temperature and mechanical strain based on spectral analyses of backscattered light from a singlemode optical fiber. The technique uses Fourier analyses to resolve spectra resulting from reflections occurring over a discrete region along the fiber. These spectra are cross-correlated with reference spectra to calculate the relative spectral shifts between measurements.

After extensive investigation, a diagnosis of adult-onset Kawasaki disease was made, and he was successfully treated with IVIg and corticosteroids. We present the clinical findings clinicians should be aware of, and review the literature on managing this rare presentation in adult, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis in improving outcomes.

Maps produced before the expansion of large-scale mechanized agriculture reflect a landscape that is lost today. Of particular interest to us is the great quantity of archaeologically relevant information that these maps recorded, both deliberately and incidentally.

Earth system models suggest that this anthropogenic land cover change influenced regional and global climate. However, the representation of past land use in earth system models is currently oversimplified.

It examines how vessels were used in urban and rural Indus settlements during the Mature Harappan period (.2600/2500-1900 BC), the relationship between vessels and the products within them, and identifies whether changes in vessel use occurred from the Mature Harappan to Late Harappan periods, particularly during climatic instability after 4.

Introduction: The coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 is a global pandemic that expresses itself with a wide variety of presenting symptoms in patients. There is a paucity of literature describing the dermatologic manifestations of the virus, particularly in the United States.
Case Report: Here we present a case of COVID-19 that manifested with a purpuric rash on the lower extremities and a maculopapular eruption on the abdomen in a patient in acute diabetic ketoacidosis and normal platelet count.
This paper presents an innovative multisensor, multitemporal machine-learning approach using remote sensing big data for the detection of archaeological mounds in Cholistan (Pakistan). The Cholistan Desert presents one of the largest concentrations of Indus Civilization sites (from 3300 to 1500 BC). Cholistan has figured prominently in theories about changes in water availability, the rise and decline of the Indus Civilization, and the transformation of fertile monsoonal alluvial plains into an extremely arid margin.

We conducted a prospective, randomized, double blind study of three licensed seasonal trivalent IIVs (IIV3s) to assess their safety and immunogenicity in pregnant women and determine the level and persistence of passively transferred maternal antibody in infants.
Study Design: 139 pregnant women ages 18-39 years and 14-33 weeks' gestation, and 44 non-pregnant women, were randomized 1:1:1 to receive a single intramuscular dose of one of three licensed IIV3s (Agriflu®, Fluzone®, or Fluarix®) prior to the 2010-2011 influenza season.
