Diagnosis and surgical treatment of mirizzi syndrome.

Retrospective analysis of the surgical treatment results in 34 patients, operated for intraoperatively diagnosed Mirizzi syndrome (MS), was done. Analysis of intraoperative changes have witnessed, that while transition occurrence of MS from the first to the fifth type a severity of morphological changes in a gallbladder-biliary ducts-duodenum system enhanced with duodenal integrity loss and development of cholecystobiliary or cholecystodigestive fistula. Surgical correction of MS have envisaged cholecystectomy performance or subtotal resection of gallbladder, plastic closure of biliary fistula, using various procedures, external biliary draining and formation of hepaticojejunostomy in accordance to Roux method.

This paper reports the main results of the 2012 joint Norwegian-Russian expedition to investigate the radioecological situation of the Stepovogo Fjord on the eastern coast of Novaya Zemlya, where the nuclear submarine K-27 and solid radioactive waste was dumped. Based on in situ gamma measurements and the analysis of seawater and sediment samples taken around the submarine, there was no indication of any leakage from the reactor units of K-27. With regard to the radioecological status of Stepovogo Fjord, activity concentrations of all radionuclides in seawater, sediment and biota in 2012 were in general lower than reported from the previous investigations in the 1990s.

Transplantation of MBMC was guided by fluoroscopy and tridimensional NOGA XP Cardiac Navigation System.

Up-to-date concentrations of long-lived artificial radionuclides in the Tom and Ob rivers in the area influenced by discharges from Siberian chemical combine.

The Siberian Chemical Combine (SCC) is located in Seversk (formerly known as Tomsk-7) in the Tomsk Region of the Russian Federation. The main contribution of radionuclides in the SCC process water discharged into the Tom River was from the single-pass reactors, now removed from service (the last SCC reactor was shutdown on June 5, 2008). The data on the concentrations of (90)Sr, (137)Cs, (239,240)Pu and other artificial radionuclides in water, bottom sediments and flood-plain soils of the Tom and Ob rivers from Tomsk to the confluence of the rivers, are presented and discussed.

Cryopreservation is the method of choice in solution of the problem of the done in good time reservation of the components of blood and bone marrow for autotransfusion in patients referred to the contingent of particular risk. Freezing of autologous hemocomponents increases the infection safety and efficiency of therapy with hemocomponents. The wide introduction of using autologous hemocomponents into the everyday surgical practice and in the arsenal of means and methods of the medicine of extreme situations is an indispensable condition for increasing the effects of curative and medico-evacuational measures.

[Improvement in the technology of washing erythrocyte-containing transfusion media].

A new device for preparing washed red cell components was proposed by the Sintez Co., Kurgan. The disposable containers were evaluated at the Center of Blood and Tissues, Military Medical Academy.

[Improvement in cryopreservation of blood platelets].

The first Russian solution Krimolit designed for cryopreservation of platelet concentrates down -196 degrees C was clinically tested. The therapeutical efficacy of the cryopreserved platelets was evaluated on the basis of clinical and laboratory monitoring of transfusions in 20 cancer hematological patients. They were found to have the same therapeutical action as fresh cells.

Data of in vitro and in vivo investigations of antimicrobial activity of preparation K carried out both by the authors and by other researchers and pharmacological properties of this preparation have been summarized. Preparation K has been obtained from medicinal plant of the Asteraceae family. It is a natural composition of two antibiotics and of a number of minor compounds.

[The comparative efficacy of the treatment at Sochi of women with inflammatory diseases of the lesser pelvis who live in different climatic and geographical regions of Russia].

225 females of reproductive age were treated in Sochi for inflammatory diseases of the small pelvis. The patients underwent climate, balneological, laser treatments and received thymogen. Therapeutic results estimated clinically, by adaptive responses, protein metabolism, proteolysis and ceruloplasmin activity, concentrations of proteolysis inhibitors and middle-mass molecules were analyzed with respect to the patients' residence and the season of their stay in the sanatorium.

[Specifics in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of combined gastroduodenal ulcers].

The article deals with the experience in the treatment of 134 patients with concurrent gastroduodenal ulcers. The authors substantiate the necessity for performing early operative treatment by means of organ-preserving and organ-sparing operation with consideration for the depth of the ulcerous defect. Attention is drawn to the need for operative correction of chronic duodenal obstruction.

[Lipid peroxidation in osteoarthrosis patients during sanatorium-health resort treatment].

It is suggested that a rise in plasma level of LPO products may be involved in osteoarthrosis pathogenesis. A direct correlation exists between elevated levels of diene conjugates, compensatory activity of antioxidant system and osteoarthritis form, history and season of the year. The highest LPO activity was observed in multiple articular lesions versus mono-osteoarthrosis.

[Immunomodulating mechanism of the antitumor effect of asterin].

It was shown that asterin therapy performed on a model of spontaneous metastasis markedly changed the content of the thymus serum factor in mice and normalized its level. The inducing mechanism of the drug's antitumor action was realized both at the stage of the metastatic postinvasion phase and during its terminal period which was probably due to an increase in the influence of the thymus on the immune system and evident from an increase in the therapeutic action of the drug.

[Effectiveness of endolymphatic administration of antibiotics in the complex treatment of suppurative and inflammatory processes of the soft tissues].

The endolymphatic administration of antibiotics, which was used in the complex treatment of 78 patients with purulent-inflammatory processes in the soft tissues, contributed to acceleration of the transition of a wound process from hydratation phase into the dehydratation phase, shortening of the duration of treatment.

[Antioxidant effect of the antineoplastic antibiotic obtained from a plant of the family Asteraceae].

Antitumour antibiotic from a plant of the family Asteracea has been studied for the biochemical mechanism of its action. Redox processes were tested by the method of spontaneous chemiluminescence determining the intensity of freely radical oxidation of membrane cell phospholipids. It was established that the antibiotic under study stabilized the indices of spontaneous chemiluminescence up to the normal level.
