This mini-review summarizes the current evidence for the role of macrophage activation and polarization in inflammation and immune response pertinent to interstitial lung disease, specifically pulmonary fibrosis. In the fibrosing lung, the production and function of inflammatory and fibrogenic mediators involved in the disease development have been reported to be regulated by the effects of polarized M1/M2 macrophage populations. The M1 and M2 macrophage phenotypes were suggested to correspond with the pro-inflammatory and pro-fibrogenic signatures, respectively.

The organizers sent 50 cell lines to each of the 15 groups, scored the 15 independently generated sets of NGS HLA genotyping data, and generated "consensus" HLA genotypes for each of the 50 cell lines. Methods: The coding SNP at codon 72 (rs1042522) and non-coding rs8064946 SNP were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction with sequence specific primers in 205 Czech patients with myocardial infarction and 148 Czech control subjects.
Results: The distribution of both SNPs was in agreement with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and was similar to other European populations.
