In 2001, the Children's Field Hospital in the Gudermes area of the Chechen Republic was connected to a telemedical centre at the Scientific Institute of Pediatrics and Children's Surgery in Moscow, via the Russian SCA HeliosNet satellite system. An asymmetric satellite link, in which there was a high-speed downlink from the satellite to Gudermes and a low-speed uplink from Gudermes to the satellite was used. In total, 179 teleconsultations were carried out from October 2001 until February 2002, when the field hospital was closed.

The authors examined 82 patients, aged from 2 months to 14 years, with traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage. In 40 the hemorrhage was complicated by fractures of the skull bones. It was established that subarachnoid hemorrhage in injury is always evidence of brain contusion of different severity.

Fourteen organ-preserving operations were fulfilled for deep ruptures of kidneys in children aged from 2.5 to 14. The examination including echography and dynamic scintigraphy in addition to traditional methods has shown good reestablishment of functioning the damaged kidney.

Under study were associated lesions of kidneys in 164 patients admitted to the hospital of emergency medical service with the closed injury of the kidneys. Symptoms of injury of other organs and shock of different degree prevailed in the clinical picture of 45 children. Novocaine blockade and active infusion therapy were used to abolish shock reactions.
