The Health On the Net Foundation (HON) was born in 1996, during the beginning of the World Wide Web, from a collective decision by health specialists, led by the late Jean-Raoul Scherrer, who anticipated the need for online trustworthy health information. Because the Internet is a free space that everyone shares, a search for quality information is like a shot in the dark: neither will reliably hit their target. Effect of zoledronic acid and an antibody against bone sialoprotein II on MDA-MB-231(GFP) breast cancer cells in vitro and on osteolytic lesions induced in vivo by this cell line in nude rats.

The aim of this study was to investigate the combined effect of zoledronic acid and an antibody against bone sialoprotein II (BSPII) on proliferation and osteolytic activity of MDA-MB-231(GFP) breast cancer cells. For this purpose, the cells were exposed to zoledronic acid (10-20 microg/ml [25-50 microgM]) and an anti-BSPII IgY (10-100 microg/ml) for up to 5 days alone or in combination. The combined treatment showed synergistic antiproliferative effects at the higher dose of zoledronic acid.

Familial articular chondrocalcinosis is a chronic articular disease characterized by acute intermittent attacks of arthritis, presence of calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate crystal in synovial fluid, cartilage and periarticular soft tissue and by x rays calcium deposition in articular cartilage. A family originating from Alsace, with an autosomal dominant transmission has been studied. As in English and Argentinean families, a linkage to the short arm of chromosome 5p has been found.
