Purpose: To present the long-term results of Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) implantation.

Methods: Consecutive case series of 94 eyes with AGV implantation over 7 years. Temporary tube ligation with C3F8 gas fill was used in high-risk eyes (group G&L) and compared with standard implantation in both phakic (group A) and pseudophakic/aphakic eyes (group B).

Purpose: To document the outcome of viscocanalostomy (VC) alone or combined with phacoemulsification (phaco-VC) in eyes with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PEXG) and primary open angle glaucoma (POAG).

Methods: A prospective, comparative study of 314 eyes undergoing VC in two centres over 6 years was conducted. Main outcome measures were: (i) intraocular pressure (IOP) control (complete success was IOP < or = 18 mmHg without medication and failure IOP > 18 mmHg); and (ii) requirement for Nd:YAG laser goniopuncture (YAG-GP) if IOP > 21 mmHg.

Purpose: To investigate the long-term efficacy and safety of non-penetrating glaucoma surgery (NPGS) augmented with mitomycin C (MMC) or 5-fluorouracil (5FU) in eyes at high risk of failure of glaucoma filtration surgery.

Methods: Prospective study of all eyes, undergoing NPGS with 0.04% MMC (1 to 2 min topical or 0.

Setting: Glaucoma unit, The Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Methods: We studied a total of 124 eyes of three consecutive groups of patients with glaucoma and cataract that underwent phacotrabeculectomy with implantation of a PMMA (30 eyes), a foldable silicone (57 eyes) or a foldable acrylic (37 eyes) IOL.

Purpose: To study the outcome of viscocanalostomy (VC) and deep sclerectomy (DS) for the surgical management of medically uncontrolled glaucoma.

Patients And Methods: A non-randomized, prospective study of all consecutive non-penetrating glaucoma filtering procedures was carried out in two centres. In the first centre, one surgeon (MSW) performed VC in 105 eyes (27 VC and 78 phaco VC).

A 42-year-old woman presented with uncontrolled glaucoma despite patent peripheral iridotomies after a previous episode of acute angle-closure glaucoma. Spherophakia was diagnosed by anterior segment findings, refraction, A-scan biometry, and ultrasound biomicroscopy. Continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis, phacoemulsification, and infusion/aspiration were performed in the right eye.
