Background: The incidence rate and the treatment costs of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are high, especially in Thailand. Previous studies indicated that early detection by a surveillance program could help by down-staging. Methods: Retrospective utilization data were retrieved from hospital's database. Changes in Coxibs expenditure in 2007 and 2009, calculated by using the Laspeyres index, were attributed to two factors: cost per patient (P) and number of patients (Q) per year.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted by using administrative claims data obtained from diabetic patients during October 1, 2002 and September 30, 2003. Dependent variables were total health-care costs and the occurrence of hospitalizations.
