This study aimed to evaluate the localised effects of intrauterine ozone therapy on endometrial recovery in mares with endometritis. Our investigation assessed changes in gene expression profiles of anti-inflammatory (IL-1RA and IL-10), proinflammatory (IL-R1B3i and TNFα) and pleiotropic (IL-6) cytokines, along with detailed histological measurements of epithelial and endometrial thickness and the glandular area ratio. Twenty mares were assigned to a 2 × 2 factorial design based on endometritis diagnosis and treatment (control or 42 μg/mL ozone insufflation), resulting in four groups: NC (negative for endometritis/control), NO (negative/ozone), PC (positive/control) and PO (positive/ozone).

Primordial germ cells (PGCs) constitute an important cell lineage that directly impacts genetic dissemination and species conservation through the creation of cryobanks. In order to advance the field of animal genetic cryopreservation, this work aimed to recover intact PGCs cryopreserved in embryonic tissues during the segmentation phase for subsequent in vitro maintenance, using the yellow-tailed tetra (Astyanax altiparanae) as a model organism. For this, a total of 202 embryos were distributed in two experiments.

Primordial germ cells (PGCs) are embryonic pluripotent cells that can differentiate into spermatogonia and oogonia, and therefore, PGCs are a genetic source for germplasm conservation through cryobanking and the generation of germline chimeras. The knowledge of PGC migration routes is essential for transplantation studies. In this work, the mRNA synthesized from the ddx4 3'UTR sequence of Pseudopimelodus mangurus, in fusion with gfp or dsred, was microinjected into zygotes of three neotropical species (P.

The haematophagy process by arthropods has been one of the main targets of studies in the parasite-host interaction, and the kissing-bug Rhodnius prolixus, vector of the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi, has been one of the main models for such studies. Still in the 1980s, it was identified that among the salivary proteins for disrupting vertebrate host homeostasis, lipocalins were among the most relevant proteins for this process. Since then, 30 lipocalins have been identified in the salivary glands of R.

Background: Chagas disease (CD) is caused by the flagellate protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi and can be carried by different species of triatomines, including Rhodnius neglectus, which is wild, well distributed in Brazil, and has formed colonies in palm trees located in urban areas of municipalities in the state of São Paulo. Chemical control has been routinely used to reduce population density, but each year, there has been an increase in species dispersion and density. This study aimed to evaluate the susceptibility of insects to insecticides used in control.

Control of Chagas disease in endemic countries is primarily accomplished through insecticide spraying for triatomine vectors. In this context, pyrethroids are the first-choice insecticide, and the evolution of insect resistance to these insecticides may represent an important barrier to triatomine control. In insects, cytochrome P450s are enzymes involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics and endogenous chemicals that are encoded by genes divided into different families.

The continuous and indiscriminate use of insecticides has been responsible for the emergence of insecticide resistant vector insect populations, especially in . Thus, it is urgent to find natural insecticide compounds with novel mode of action for vector control. The goal of this study was to investigate the larvicidal activity of essential oils (EOs) from species against characterized as resistant and susceptible strains to pyrethroids.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study developed a murine cellular system to model the transition from melanocytes to metastatic melanoma cells, analyzing four distinct cell lines to understand the progression of melanoma through gene co-expression and histone modification profiling.
  • - Researchers identified 18 gene modules related to melanoma progression and metastasis, which were linked to biological processes like cell migration and DNA repair, and some showed potential as prognostic biomarkers based on patient survival data from melanoma cohorts.
  • - Analysis revealed specific patterns of histone modifications connected to melanoma stages, with certain marks being reduced or increased in metastatic cells, suggesting these modifications may play a role in the disease's progression.
