Collaterals improve recanalization in acute ischemic stroke patients treated with intravenous thrombolysis, but the mechanisms are poorly understood. To investigate it, an in vitro flow model of the middle cerebral artery was developed with or without collaterals. An occlusion was achieved using human blood clots.

The data were taken in 2022 with the COMPASS spectrometer using the 160 GeV muon beam at CERN, statistically balancing the existing data on transversely polarized proton targets. The first results from about two-thirds of the new data have total uncertainties smaller by up to a factor of three compared to the previous deuteron measurements.

Combining the data of both years, we present final results on the amplitudes of five azimuthal modulations, which correspond to transverse-spin-dependent azimuthal asymmetries (TSAs) in the dimuon production cross section. Three of them probe the nucleon leading-twist Sivers, transversity, and pretzelosity transverse-momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution functions (PDFs).

To produce such models, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) has been the most widely used material. For biological applications, its hydrophobic surface has to be modified.

Cardio- and cerebrovascular diseases are leading causes of death and disability, resulting in one of the highest socio-economic burdens of any disease type. The discovery of bacterial and human plasminogen activators and their use as thrombolytic drugs have revolutionized treatment of these pathologies. Fibrin-specific agents have an advantage over non-specific factors because of lower rates of deleterious side effects.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether apixaban can modify the thrombolytic efficacy of alteplase . Static and flow models and two variants of red blood cell (RBC) dominant clots, with and without apixaban, were used.

With a mass too close to and a width smaller than the axial-vector ground state a_{1}(1260), it was immediately interpreted as a new light exotic meson, similar to the X, Y, Z states in the hidden-charm sector. We show that a resonancelike signal fully matching the experimental data is produced by the decay of the a_{1}(1260) resonance into K^{*}(→Kπ)K[over ¯] and subsequent rescattering through a triangle singularity into the coupled f_{0}(980)π channel.

Both probes can be used for fast evaluation of Pd/Pt binding to nanocarriers relevant in drug targeted therapy or specific clinically relevant target macromolecules.

Palladium and silver nanoparticles (NPs) anchored at the outer surface of ferritin form stable suspension of non-coated particles that possess several catalytic and enzymomimetic activities. These activities are strongly affected by detergents that significantly influence the reaction efficiency and specificity. Reductive dehalogenation of various azo dye substrates shows strong differences in reactivity for each substrate-detergent pair.

The reductive discoloration of azo dye, Congo red, catalyzed by noble metal nanoparticles was used to visualize protein-metal complexes in native polyacrylamide gels after counterstaining with Coomassie blue. This technique was used to characterize the synthesis of palladium, rhodium and iridium nanoparticles encapsulated in Pyrococcus furiosus ferritin.

Current assays to evaluate the effectivity of peptides against enveloped viruses based on liposomes or hemolysis are encumbered by the artificial nature of liposomes or distinctive membrane composition of used erythrocytes. We propose a novel assay system based on enzymatic Ebola virus-like particles containing sensitive luciferase reporter.

Pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) was studied as a marker of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). It has been shown that its levels are increased by heparin administration. Therefore, the aim of our study was to ascertain the diagnostic significance of PAPP-A in heparin-naïve patients and compare it with (TnI).

Method And Results: Presented paper shows some aspects of occurrence, diagnostics and treatment of acute abdomen diseases--inflammatory and intestinal obstruction--in patients older than 60 years. It compares the occurrence and treatment results at an identical surgical department 30 and 60 years ago and nowadays.
Introduction: Somatostatinoma is a rare, slowly growing tumor with malignity potential, most commonly located in the pancreas or duodenum. By the time its diagnosis is established, it is usually large and liver metastases are present. Increased concentrations of somatostatin, produced by pancreatic D cells or by intestinal mucosa, inihibit secretion of a number of GIT hormones, endocrine and exocrine pancreatic secretion.

The aim of this study was to assess the association between ascending aortic dimensions and valve stenosis severity.
Methods And Results: An analysis of echocardiographic examinations was conducted in 296 patients with aortic stenosis (179 males, mean age 71 years), 57 with bicuspid and 239 with tricuspid aortic valve, mean transaortic gradient 43+/-20 mmHg, and not more than moderate aortic regurgitation.

Due to the procedure's success rates, it has become a standard therapeutic procedure, when indicated. From the medical point of view, the following factors characterize the level of seriousness of these procedures: the fact that the procedure is extensive, its complicated reconstruction phase and high postoperative morbidity rates.
