As we enter the era of digital interdependence, artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a key instrument to transform health care and address disparities and barriers in access to services. This viewpoint explores AI's potential to reduce inequalities in cancer care by improving diagnostic accuracy, optimizing resource allocation, and expanding access to medical care, especially in underserved communities. Despite persistent barriers, such as socioeconomic and geographical disparities, AI can significantly improve health care delivery.

We present the case of a 42-year-old Hispanic patient who consulted with a left breast mass that showed clinical and imaging signs of breast cancer. During preprocedural examination before needle biopsy, the patient was found to have bilateral, purplish-brown skin lesions on her lower legs, suggestive of erythema nodosum. Lactating adenomas are benign breast tumors, of which etiology, pathogenesis, and management are not yet fully evident in the literature. The primary goal of the radiological evaluation is to make the differential diagnosis with malignant conditions. We present a case of a 34-year-old pregnant woman referred to our service with a progressively increasing mass in the right breast, in whom the histopathology was consistent with a lactating adenoma.

Study Aims: We sought to evaluate the diagnostic performance of quantitative elastography (shear wave elastography) and to establish the optimal cutoff value to differentiate malignant and benign breast lesions using QelaXtoTM software.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study of adult women with suspicious breast lesions (BIRADS 3, 4 or 5) who underwent programmed ultrasound-guided core biopsies. Breast lesions were assessed using quantitative elastography combined with B-mode ultrasound.

Objective: To determine the level of agreement within and between observers in the categorization of breast density on mammograms in a group of professionals using the fifth edition of the American College of Radiology's BI-RADS® Atlas and to analyze the concordance between experts' categorization and automatic categorization by commercial software on digital mammograms.

Methods: Six radiologists categorized breast density on 451 mammograms on two occasions one month apart. We calculated the linear weighted kappa coefficients for inter- and intra-observer agreement for the group of radiologists and between the commercial software and the majority report.

Material And Methods: We selected patients histologically diagnosed with metastases to the breast in our diagnostic and interventional breast imaging unit between March 2010 and September 2018.

Results: A total of 9 patients (all women; mean age, 60 y; age range, 28-89 y) were diagnosed with metastases to the breast.

Microbial dioxygenase gene population shifts during polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon biodegradation.

The degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) by bacteria has been widely studied. While many pure cultures have been isolated and characterized for their ability to grow on PAHs, limited information is available on the diversity of microbes involved in PAH degradation in the environment. We have designed generic PCR primers targeting the gene fragment encoding the Rieske iron sulfur center common to all PAH dioxygenase enzymes.

Cease Fire Tampa Bay: a three-tiered approach to firearm injury prevention.

Cease Fire Tampa Bay is a multifaceted, broad-based community effort working to increase awareness of firearm injuries and provide an opportunity for the people of the southwest-central Florida region to eliminate unwanted firearms. Three approaches to develop this program were implemented; a six-county gun buy-back program, firearm safety education for school-aged children and community education programs. The program has been successful in removing 6,981 unwanted guns from the streets, and has reached thousands of children and families in the region.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the MORE HEALTH "Respect Not Risk" Firearm Safety Lesson for 3rd-graders in Pinellas County, Florida. Six schools representative of various socioeconomic levels were selected as the test sites. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected.

Development and evaluation of the Kids Count Farm Safety Lesson.

The Kids Count Farm Safety Lesson was delivered to nearly 2,000 fifth-grade students in 15 rural schools in Hillsborough County, Florida. The lesson covered animal, machinery, water, and general safety topics applicable to farming in Florida. A staggered pretest-posttest study design was followed whereby five schools received a multiple-choice pretest and posttest and the remainder of the schools (N = 10) received the posttest only.

Skin cancer screening: A growing need.

Skin cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in the United States. Melanoma is the major cause of deaths due to skin cancer, however, squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma account for considerable morbidity also. All three types are potentially curable if diagnosed at an early stage.
