Background: Risk factors and comorbidities can complicate management of non-valvular atrial fibrillation. We describe and compare real-world safety and effectiveness of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs; apixaban, rivaroxaban, dabigatran) and vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) in subgroups of patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation at high risk for gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, utilizing data from a national quasi-exhaustive French database.

Hypothesis: Ellipsoidal particles confined at liquid interfaces exhibit complex self-assembly due to quadrupolar capillary interactions, favouring either tip-to-tip or side-to-side configurations. However, predicting and controlling which structure forms remains challenging. We hypothesize that introducing a polymer-based soft shell around the particles will modulate these capillary interactions, providing a means to tune the preferred self-assembly configuration based on particle geometry and shell properties.

Introduction: A potential overlap in symptoms between post-acute COVID-19 syndrome and post-COVID-19 vaccination syndrome has been noted. We report a paired description of patients presenting with similar manifestations involving the central (CNS) or peripheral nervous system (PNS) following SARS-CoV-2 infection or vaccination, suggesting that both may have triggered similar immune-mediated neurological disorders in the presence of anti-idiotype antibodies directed against the ACE2 protein.

Patients And Methods: Four patients exhibited overlapping neurological manifestations following SARS-CoV-2 infection or vaccination: radiculitis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, and MRI-negative myelitis, respectively, sharing positivity for anti-ACE2 antibodies.

Drug-induced thrombocytopenia is an adverse reaction characterized by accelerated platelet destruction. The present study described a case of thrombocytopenia that occurred during treatment with panitumumab. The MgO-CO-HO system have a variety of important industrial applications including in catalysis, immobilisation of radionuclides and heavy metals, construction, and mineralisation and permanent storage of anthropogenic CO. Here, we develop a computational approach to generate phase stability plots for the MgO-CO-HO system that do not rely on traditional experimental corrections for the solid phases. We compare the predictions made by several dispersion-corrected density-functional theory schemes, and we include the temperature-dependent Gibbs free energy through the quasi-harmonic approximation.

We investigate a quasi-2D suspension of Brownian particles in an optical speckle field produced by holographic manipulation of a laser wavefront. This system was developed to study, in a systematic and controllable way, a distinctive instance of diffusion, called Fickian yet Non Gaussian diffusion (FnGD), observed, during the last decade, for colloidal particles in a variety of complex and biological fluids. Our setup generates an optical speckle field that behaves like a disordered set of optical traps.
