Objectives: This study aims to understand a major result of ComCor, an online epidemiological study conducted to identify the circumstances of COVID-19 infection in France from 2020 to 2022: One third of respondents reported ignoring the circumstances of their infection.
Methods: We conducted a qualitative study through semi-structured interviews, diagnosed in spring or summer 2021. Interviews were audio recorded, transcribed, and thematically analyzed.
Santé publique France has been developing participatory approaches in the field of local environmental health investigations for around twenty years. An initial assessment of this activity was carried out in 2016. Comparing four types of participatory process implemented on different polluted sites, this work aims to reflect on the contributions and limits of such approaches.

Yet, if large-scale studies provide an acute description of the current situation of childhood cancer survivors, little is known about their trajectories and the social processes shaping these trajectories. Using a qualitative methodology, drawing from a life course perspective, this study sought to describe the role of childhood cancer and its side effects in educational trajectories, as perceived by the participants.

This consultation came out of a long process of releasing reports and holding international and regional conferences, a process steered by an informal network. This network's relations with other parties is analysed along with its way of working and the exchanges during the technical consultation that led up to the formal adoption of a recommendation.

Our general goal is to shed light on the issue, unravelling and comparing different conceptions of scientific evidence and their respective world views. We seek to reconstruct, based on an analysis of the literature on the topic, key moments in the history of the controversy about the association between MC and HIV prevention, analysing more closely three recent randomised studies, given their relevance to the argumentative strategy employed by those who defend circumcision as a prevention method.

Studies showing poor agreement among reviewers supported this possibility but usually focused on reviewers' scores and failed to investigate reasons for disagreement. Here, our goal was to determine how reviewers rate applications, by investigating reviewer practices and grant assessment criteria.

Drawing on the concepts of medicalization (Conrad, 2007 ), discipline and biopolitics (Foucault, 1976/ 1988 ), and biomedicalization (Clarke, Fishman, Fosket, Mamo, & Shim, 2003 ), it explores the shift from behavioral to biomedical and surgical prevention techniques-a shift symbolic of a more general trend toward the biomedicalization of sexuality. It argues that, although biomedical and surgical approaches (chemoprevention and male circumcision) have certain benefits, their efficacy is limited and uncertain.

Criticisms of peer review include lack of equity, suspicion of biases, and conflicts of interest (CoI). CoIs raise questions of fairness, transparency, and trust in grant allocation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA detailed review is given of the application of high-frequency ultrasound (HFUS) at frequencies of 20 MHz and above for high-resolution, cross-sectional imaging of biological soft tissue. The state of the art of HFUS imaging systems is discussed with respect to the underlying engineering concepts, system designs, and available transducer technology. Furthermore, the dependency of the spatial resolution on the system's parameters is analysed.

Ideally conceived as free from any constraints, informed by well-understood information and attested to by signature, its authorization in the context of clinical trials conducted in Southern hemisphere countries raises a certain number of difficulties. For this presentation, we studied the motivations of a group of Abidjan women (n=127) to participate or not, with their newborn, in a vaccine protocol trial against Hepatitis B called HEPACI.

Here we tested whether such potencies would be different for hERG single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).

The current study evaluates the frequency of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the human NK(2) receptor gene (TACR2). In addition, the potency of the endogenous peptide agonist neurokinin A (NKA), and the small molecule antagonists saredutant (NK(2)-selective) and ZD6021 (pan-NK antagonist) at the various NK(2) receptor protein variants were determined.

Many studies, including clinical trials, are conducted in developing countries with a high burden of disease. Conditions under which this research is conducted vary because of differences in culture, public health, political, legal and social contexts specific to these countries.

In ultrasonic elastography, the exact estimation of temporal displacements between two signals is the key to estimating strain. An algorithm was previously proposed that estimates these displacements using phase differences of the corresponding base-band signals. A major advantage of these algorithms compared with correlation techniques is the computational efficiency.

A statistical framework is presented and different methods of evaluating the classification performance of computer-aided diagnostic systems, and, in particular, systems for ultrasonic tissue characterization, are derived. Most classifiers that are used today are dependent on a separation threshold, which can be chosen freely in many cases.

The composites exhibit a blue shift for CdSe absorption, which increases with a decrease in nanoparticle content. The observed blue shift is due to the interaction of the quantum dots with the LDH layers, which leads to surface modification of the nanoparticles.

In this setting, intracoronary pressure measurements may be helpful to define the optimal revascularization strategy.
Methods: Twenty-five consecutive patients (aged 64 +/- 11 years) with multivessel disease, inconclusive stress tests or not performed stress tests, and an angiographically intermediate coronary artery stenosis in at least 1 major vessel underwent intracoronary pressure measurements.
In the 1-100-nm size regime, the properties of materials can differ significantly from those of their bulk counterparts. The present study applies the focused ion beam (FIB) tool to the characterization of nanoscale structures for scanning and transmission electron microscopy. The strength of this method is its ability to manufacture samples that cannot be produced using traditional means.

A total of 124 women were interviewed. In spite of Information Education Communication (IEC) meetings held by midwives focusing on both diseases, knowledge about tetanus appeared to be substantially higher than that about hepatitis B.

However, the use of B-mode images for tissue characterization and detection of vulnerable coronary plaques is limited. Strain imaging with ultrasound is a new modality that provides additional information for tissue characterization by imaging differences in tissue stiffness.

It has become accepted to denote such single-nucleotide polymorphisms of cytokine genes by their presumed association with high or low in vitro cytokine production. In this article, we analyze the relationship between cytokine gene polymorphisms and in vitro tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFalpha), interferon gamma (IFNgamma), and interleukin (IL)-10 and IL-13 production, both in liver transplant recipients and in healthy volunteers.

Persisting inflammation, resulting from an imbalance of cytokines regulating the inflammatory response, is one possible mechanism. As the elaboration of cytokines is under genetic control, this study was designed to establish whether there might be a genetic predisposition to an altered pattern of anti-inflammatory cytokine production in patients with irritable bowel syndrome.

Design: Prospective analysis.
