People with intellectual disabilities (IDs) face health issues and barriers to physical activity. Health promotion programmes targeting this group are often short-term. Few programmes have been designed for people with IDs who live in supported housing staffed by social care workers (SCWs).

It is well known that ADHD extends into adulthood, but if left untreated, has consequences in a range of areas. In this case report, a young man is described who, since childhood, has tried to draw attention to his problems with attention management. He smoked 60 cigarettes a day to deal with inner turmoil and restlessness.

Methods: We included 1733 samples from 375 PCR-confirmed SARS-CoV-2-positive individuals of the North Zealand Covid-19 Cohort in an 8-month period. We investigated diagnostic sensitivity and specificity against consensus and PCR and interassay agreement over time for 5 SARS-CoV-2 immunoassays [Roche-nucleocapsid (NC)-total, Roche-receptor binding domain (RBD)-total, Siemens-RBD-IgG, Siemens-RBD-total, Thermo Fisher Scientific (TFS)-RBD-IgG] commercially available on automated platforms and 2 ELISA assays (TFS-RBD-total, Wantai-RBD-total).
is a major cause of food poisoning worldwide, and remains the main infective agent in gastroenteritis and related intestinal disorders in Europe and the USA. As with all bacterial infections, the stages of adhesion to host tissue, survival in the host and eliciting disease all require the synthesis of proteinaceous virulence factors on the ribosomes of the pathogen. Here, we describe how virulence is attenuated by altering the methylation of its ribosomes to disrupt the composition of its proteome, and how this in turn provides a means of identifying factors that are essential for infection and pathogenesis.

Methods: Single centre, retrospective longitudinal study including all prevalent children aged 1-18 years with nondialysis CKD stages 3-5. Variables associated with CKD were analysed for their potential effect on annualised eGFR change (ΔGFR/year) following multiple regression analysis.
Background: There are limited data regarding vitamin and trace element blood concentrations and supplementation needs in children with non-dialysis stages 3-5 of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional review for nutritional blood concentrations measured over a recent 2-year period. In our CKD clinics, nutritional bloods including copper, zinc, selenium and vitamin A, vitamin E, active vitamin B and folate are monitored annually.
Polymyxins are increasingly used as the critical last-resort therapeutic options for multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. Unfortunately, polymyxin resistance has increased gradually over the past few years. Although studies on polymyxin mechanisms are expanding, systemwide analyses of the underlying mechanism for polymyxin resistance and stress response are still lacking.

However, the experiences within parental contexts have been inadequately examined; that is, how parents feel about and act upon the awareness of their child's autism diagnosis. Drawing upon a qualitative study among Danish parents of 20 children recently diagnosed with autism, this paper contributes with situated insights into parents' experiences.

Worldwide, emerging multidrug resistant K. pneumoniae infections are challenging to treat, hence leading to increased mortality.

A diagnosis of Alice in Wonderland syndrome (AIWS) presumably associated to migraine was made, and the girl was successfully treated with lamotrigine. Effective treatment of the AIWS depends on correct diagnosis.

IgE-mediated activation of basophil granulocytes and mast cells follows a bell-shaped dose-response curve. The decreased activation at supraoptimal allergen stimulation is thought to be associated with SH2-containing inositol-5'-phosphatase 1 (SHIP-1). SHIP-1 phosphorylation is inversely related to IgE-mediated releasability of basophils.

Background: Relatively little is known about the role of maternal functioning in terms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms, attachment style and resilience as predictive factors for treatment outcome when offspring are diagnosed with ADHD.
Objective: To investigate whether maternal functioning is associated with treatment outcome in children with ADHD.
Methods: The study formed part of a larger naturalistic observational study of children with ADHD.
The aim of this paper is to share the clinical experience of the treatment of aripiprazole (Abilify) in children and adolescents. The authors have done a cross-sectional study about Abilify's treatment in children and adolescents with severe conduct problems (high impulsivity, aggression, outward reaction, physical cross-border behavior), high restlessness with ADHD, psychotic and psychosis-like symptoms with autistic disorders, psychosis, and intensive tics with Tourette's syndrome. The authors studied and described patients at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinic 1 in Roskilde, Denmark, who were treated with Abilify and were patients of the clinic in June 2013.

Methods: The study cohort comprised 83 children (51 boys; mean age 12.1 ± 3.
Structure-activity relationship studies of the cyclopentapeptide CXCR4 antagonists (cyclo(-l-/d-Arg(1)-Arg(2)-2-Nal(3)-Gly(4)-d-Tyr(5)-)) suggest that the l-/d-Arg(1)-Arg(2)-2-Nal(3) tripeptide sequence contained within these cyclopentapeptides serves as a recognition motif for peptidic CXCR4 antagonists. Starting by dissecting the cyclopentapeptide structure and reintroducing cyclic constraints in a stepwise manner, we here report a novel class of scaffold-based tripeptidomimetic CXCR4 antagonists based on the d-Arg-Arg-2-Nal motif. Biological testing of the prototype compounds showed that they represent new peptidomimetic hits; importantly, the modular nature of the scaffold provides an interesting starting point for future ligand optimization.

Method: The SOSTRA trial is a randomized, parallel-group, outcome-assessor-blinded, superiority trial evaluating 8 weeks social-skills training and parental training plus standard treatment versus standard treatment alone for 8- to 12-year old children with ADHD.
Results: There were no significant differences in attachment competences at 6 months between the experimental (n = 25) and the control (n = 22) groups (odds ratio = 1.
Background: Children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at increased risk of future cardiovascular (CV) events. Our aim in this prospective single-centre cross-sectional analysis was to assess the relationship of a novel panel of CV biomarkers with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH).
Methods: A panel of five CV biomarkers (asymmetric dimethyl arginine, high sensitivity C-reactive protein, homocysteine, N-terminal pro-B type natriuretic peptide and uric acid) were measured on the same day as an echocardiogram assessment, in paediatric patients with pre-dialysis stages 3-5 of CKD.
Objective: Psychological theories have postulated an association between insecure attachment and ADHD. The objective of this study is to investigate possible association between insecure attachment and ADHD in children and adults.
Method: Review of literature was performed using the PsycINFO, Medline, and EMBASE databases.
Objective: To analyse the demographics of children with moderate to severe chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 3-5 over a 5-year period for the population of South East England.
Methods: Retrospective study of all children <18 years of age with estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) <60 ml/min/1.73 m(2) managed at Evelina Children's Hospital, London from 2005 to 2009.
