Background: Psychedelic drugs are increasingly visible in society once more, but their risks and adverse effects have received less attention than perhaps they should. While fatalities associated with psychedelics appear rare, a systematic approach to characterising their aetiology is required to inform harm minimisation efforts.
Aims: This study aimed to analyse prevalence and characteristics of psychedelic-related deaths in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, between 1997 and 2022.
A vertical external cavity surface emitting laser (VECSEL) has been developed for a sodium guide star application. Stable single frequency operation with 21 W of output power near 1178 nm with multiple gain elements while lasing in the TEM mode has been achieved. Higher output power results in multimode lasing.

This architecture is particularly advantageous for power scaling of single-frequency VECSELs employing multiple gain mirrors in folded cavities. View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe combined atomic and molecular layer deposition (ALD/MLD) technique offers a unique way to build-both known and previously unknown-crystalline coordination polymer materials directly from gaseous precursors in a high-quality thin-film form. Here, we demonstrate the ALD/MLD of crystalline Li-, Na-, and K-based 3,5-pyridinedicarboxylate (3,5-PDC) thin films; the Li -3,5-PDC films are of the known Li-ULMOF-4 crystal structure whereas the other as-deposited crystalline films possess structures not previously reported. Another exciting possibility offered by ALD/MLD is the deposition of well-defined but amorphous metal-organic thin films, such as our Mg-, Ca-, Sr-, and Ba-based 3,5-PDC films, which can then be crystallized into water-containing structures through a post-deposition humidity treatment.

The MECSEL-active region was based on an AlGaAs quantum well structure embedded between two silicon carbide (SiC) wafer pieces that were used as transparent intra-cavity (IC) heat spreaders creating a symmetrical cooling environment. Background: Data on the association of memory performance with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease (AD) are inconsistent. The Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease neuropsychological battery (CERAD-NB) is a commonly used validated cognitive tool; however, only few studies have examined its relationship with CSF biomarkers for AD. Methods: This retrospective cohort study collected data from hospital medical records on survival, diagnosis, age, sex, tumour size and stage at diagnosis. We also observed the disease recurrence and use of autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

In Finland, more than half of the original peatland area has been drained, and during recent years, restoration of some of the drained peatlands has been accomplished. The faunistic knowledge of Finnish Winnertziinae, Porricondylinae and Cecidomyiinae is regarded as particularly poor. Based on species numbers known from other countries in Europe, a conservative estimate is 700-800 species of Cecidomyiidae actually occurring in Finland.
