Improving energy efficiency in the building sector is a subject of significant interest, considering the environmental impact of buildings. Energy efficiency involves many aspects, such as occupant comfort, system monitoring and maintenance, data treatment, instrumentation… Physical modeling and calibration, or artificial intelligence, are often employed to explore these different subjects and, thus, to limit energy consumption in buildings. [Disabled elderly people waiting for institutionalization to a hospital ward: prospective study in the administrative district of Strasbourg (France)].

Objectives: Our aim was to estimate the number of non-satisfied instutionalization requests for inpatients and to describe the strategies elaborated to compensate for the waiting time.

Methods: This prospective follow-up study concerning all requests for institution admission for inpatients aged 75 years or older hospitalized in acute care and rehabilitation wards. Descriptive data were gathered throughout the social support process conducted during the hospitalization.

[Asymptomatic acute cytolytic hepatitis due to fluindione and associated with resistance to treatment: a case report and review of the literature].

The authors report a case of asymptomatic acute cytolytic hepatitis due to fluindione (Previscan) associated with relative and selective resistance to this drug prescribed as a relay of heparin therapy for deep venous thrombosis following immobilisation of a sprained ankle in a 22 year-old patient. The main complications of oral anticoagulants are bleeding. Very severe immuno-allergic complications, especially hepatic, have been described with phenindione therapy.

[Type B Niemann-Pick disease and sea-blue histiocytes syndrome].

We report two new cases, in the same family, of type B Niemann-Pick disease associated with sea-blue histiocytes syndrome. In one patient the disease was revealed by spontaneous rupture of the spleen. The sea-blue histiocytes syndrome is due to the histiocytes being overloaded by ceroids, and it usually occurs in a context of blood disease or thesaurismosis.

Calcitonin-secreting carcinomas of the prostate. An immunohistochemical and ultrastructural analysis.

Two cases of calcitonin-producing carcinomas of the prostate are reported. Light microscopical, immunohistochemical, and ultrastructural investigations have been performed. These tumors displayed a remarkable dual, endocrine and common epithelial (exocrine), differentiation.

Bleomycin and cis-platinum with or without mitomycin C in 110 previously untreated patients with head and neck cancer.

Between November 1979 and October 1981, 110 consecutive patients with previously untreated, biopsy-proven squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, were treated by chemotherapy prior to scheduled surgery and/or radiotherapy. Two regimens of chemotherapy were used. The first 57 patients received cis-platinum, 20 mg/m2/day for 5 consecutive days and bleomycin 5 mg/m2/day as a continuous infusion over the same 5 days every 3 weeks (Regimen A).

[One case of atypical craniopharyngioma located in sphenoïdal body and operated first by nasal then by maxillary sinus route (author's transl)].

This case of retro-pharyngeal craniopharyngioma was treated through an unusual combination of approaches first by naso septal then by the maxillary sinus route of Denker. This last exposure provided wide access and permitted a complete removal of this difficult tumor. It is usually meant for cancer of upper maxillary bone structures.
