Because of their large surface areas, nanotubes and nanowires demonstrate exquisite mechanical coupling to their surroundings, promising advanced sensors and nanomechanical devices. Atomic order of rare earth ions in a complex oxide: a path to magnetotaxial anisotropy.

Complex oxides offer rich magnetic and electronic behavior intimately tied to the composition and arrangement of cations within the structure. Rare earth iron garnet films exhibit an anisotropy along the growth direction which has long been theorized to originate from the ordering of different cations on the same crystallographic site. Here, we directly demonstrate the three-dimensional ordering of rare earth ions in pulsed laser deposited (EuTm)FeO garnet thin films using both atomically-resolved elemental mapping to visualize cation ordering and X-ray diffraction to detect the resulting order superlattice reflection.

Methods: We conducted a post-hoc analysis of the Diagnosis of Uncertain-Origin Benign Transient Neurological Symptoms (DOUBT) study, a prospective, multicenter cohort study investigating the frequency of acute infarcts in patients with low-risk neurological symptoms.

Bisphenol F (BPF) is a potential neurotoxicant used as a replacement for bisphenol A (BPA) in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. We investigated the neurodevelopmental impacts of BPF exposure using Drosophila melanogaster as a model. Our transcriptomic analysis indicated that developmental exposure to BPF caused the downregulation of neurodevelopmentally relevant genes, including those associated with synapse formation and neuronal projection.

We hypothesize that episodes consisting of focal symptoms would have proportionally higher DWI-positive imaging at later onset-to-imaging times.

Methods: Patients with transient neurologic symptoms and a normal neurologic examination who had DWI in the combined data set of 3 cohort studies were included.

Background: Rates of cannabis use are increasing in the United States, likely as a result of changes in societal attitudes and expanding legalization. Although many patients report wanting to discuss the risks and benefits of cannabis use with their clinical providers, many providers hold conflicting beliefs regarding cannabis use and often do not engage patients in discussion about cannabis. This dilemma is underscored by the limitations imposed on cannabis related research, and lack of empirically based best-practice guidelines for clinicians when addressing cannabis use with patients.
