As a member of the opioid family, κ-opioid receptors play important role in cognitive and learning functions. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association of OPRK1 promoter methylation with Alzheimer's disease (AD). OPRK1 DNA methylation levels of 48 cases and 58 well matched controls were measured using the bisulphite pyrosequencing technology.

Bis(propyl)-cognitin (B3C), derived from tacrine linked with three methylene (-CH2-) groups, is a dimerized molecule interacting multiple targets. During the past several years, it has been reported as a promising therapeutic drug for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other neurodegenerative disorders. However, the therapeutic mechanism of B3C for AD needs further demonstration.

Rosiglitazone has been known to attenuate neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, Morris water maze test, ELISA and electrophysiological methods were used to examine the role and underling mechanisms of rosiglitazone on Aβ42 oligomer-induced memory impairments. We found that rosiglitazone attenuated Aβ42 oligomer-induced memory impairments in rats in a dose-dependent manner.
