Enriching oxygen species in perovskite catalysts provides more active sites for the catalytic oxidation of air pollutants, but its further application in environmental chemical engineering is still constrained by the inherent lack of oxygen species reactivity and the difficulty of replenishing depleted oxygen species. Herein, we present a scalable one-pot strategy for the in situ fabrication of a homogeneously distributed heterostructure, which brings LaCuO perovskite a 58-fold activity enhancement and robust antisintering/water/coke in toluene oxidation, higher than currently reported perovskite catalysts. Superior to the single "oxygen enrichment" effect of conventional surface-aggregated heterostructures, the homogeneously distributed heterostructures induce the reactivity enhancement of adsorbed oxygen and the backfilling/replenishment of depleted lattice oxygen, which break through the rate-determining steps of the low-temperature Langmuir-Hinshelwood and the high-temperature Mars-van Krevelen mechanisms, respectively.

Cold acclimation is critical for the survival of plants in temperate regions under low temperatures, and C-REPEAT BINDING FACTORs (CBFs) are well established as key transcriptional factors that regulate this adaptive process by controlling the expression of cold-responsive genes. Here we demonstrate that CBFs are involved in modulating alternative splicing during cold acclimation through their interaction with subunits of the spliceosome complex. Under cold stress, CBF proteins accumulate and directly interact with SKI-INTERACTING PROTEIN (SKIP), a key component of the spliceosome, which positively regulates acquired freezing tolerance.

Lipid droplets (LDs), as innate immune hubs, function in the front line of antimicrobial defense involved in the host-pathogen arms race. Particularly for intracellular bacterial pathogens, the endowed capacity to resist host LDs can effectively facilitate pathogen in vivo colonization and evasion from the host's innate immune response. Here, to investigate the genetic mechanisms of intracellular bacteria response to host LDs, we utilized transposon insertion sequencing to dissect critical fitness determinants of Edwardsiella piscicida under the treatment of LDs isolated from its native host, turbot.

The catalytic volatile organic compound oxidation poses a dilemma for perovskite (ABO) catalysts, as their high lattice oxygen reactivity (electron-deficient O) depends on attracting coordinated oxygen electrons through an increased electronegativity of B-site cations, but this impedes the healing of oxygen vacancies and thus results in a low concentration of active lattice oxygen due to the limited O dissociation in electron-deficient environments. Herein, we compress [Co/MnO] octahedra through A-site Cs doping in the double perovskite (LaCoMnO), which optimizes the orbital hybridization between Co/Mn 3d and O 2p. This promotes electron transfer from O to Co/Mn while reducing Co/Mn electronegativity, resulting in a synergistic improvement of lattice oxygen reactivity and oxygen vacancy healing.

Present design and application of perovskite oxide catalysts assume lattice oxygen redox (LOR) mechanisms that depend on lattice oxygen activity without consideration of the entire redox cycle. Herein, using in situ characterizations and theoretical calculations, we uncover a hole-mediated LOR cycle on p-type Sr-deficient SrFeO (SFO-Srv) perovskites in CO oxidation reaction. Sr vacancies activate surface lattice oxygen of SFO-Srv and promote formation of highly covalent Fe-O sites.

Background: Three-dimensional (3D) is a useful tool for visualizing computed tomography (CT) scans, facilitating a clearer understanding of the spatial relationships between pulmonary lesions and the branching architecture of the bronchi and blood vessels. Several studies have demonstrated the benefit of preoperative 3D reconstruction in terms of intraoperative safety and short-term surgical outcomes after thoracoscopic surgery. However, evidence regarding the impact of 3D reconstruction on surgical planning of anatomical partial lobectomy (APL) is still lacking.

Background: The role of functional connectivity (FC) changes in the prefrontal-thalamic-cerebellar circuit in schizophrenia has received widespread attention. Currently, domestic and international studies on this circuit have focused on adults, while the FC of this circuit in the brains of adolescent patients with schizophrenia (AOS) has been less reported.

Methods: We recruited 124 subjects who underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans at baseline, using key brain regions in the prefrontal-thalamic-cerebellar circuit as seed regions, to investigate the FC in AOS versus healthy controls.

Identifying and characterizing virulence proteins secreted by Gram-negative bacteria are fundamental for deciphering microbial pathogenicity as well as aiding the development of therapeutic strategies. Effector predictors utilizing pre-trained protein language models (PLMs) have shown sound performance by leveraging extensive evolutionary and sequential protein features. However, the accuracy and sensitivity of effector prediction remain challenging.

Modulation of electronic spin states in cobalt-based catalysts is an effective strategy for molecule activations. Crystalline-amorphous interfaces often exhibit unique catalytic properties due to disruptions of long-range order and alterations in electronic structure. However, the mechanisms of molecule activation and spin states at interfaces remain elusive.

Background: The optimal extent of lymph node resection for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains a topic of debate in the medical community. We aimed to assess the surgical and prognostic outcomes based on the extent of mediastinal lymph node dissection (MLND) for resectable clinical stage IA NSCLC.

Methods: From 2016 to 2018, 1,166 patients with clinical stage IA NSCLC who underwent lobectomy or segmentectomy with complete mediastinal lymph node dissection (C-MLND) or selective mediastinal lymph node dissection (S-MLND) at five hospitals were enrolled.

Background: Preoperative assessment of lymph node status is critical in managing lung cancer, as it directly impacts the surgical approach and treatment planning. However, in clinical stage I lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), determining lymph node metastasis (LNM) is often challenging due to the limited sensitivity of conventional imaging modalities, such as computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography/CT (PET/CT). This study aimed to establish an effective radiomics prediction model using multicenter data for early assessment of LNM risk in patients with clinical stage I LUAD.

As the frontier of environmental catalysis, mercury removal by deNO unit over bifunctional catalyst has emerged. However, it is fundamentally challenging to achieve simultaneous NO and mercury removal in industrial flue gas due to the commercial selective catalytic reduction (SCR) molecular sieves' lack of demercuration active centers. Herein, we demonstrate an active site in situ reconfiguration approach to enhance the oxidation of elemental mercury and immobilize divalent mercury by modified commercial SCR catalysts.

Graph data is essential for modeling complex relationships among entities. Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have demonstrated effectiveness in processing low-order undirected graph data; however, in complex directed graphs, relationships between nodes extend beyond first-order connections and encompass higher-order relationships. Additionally, the asymmetry introduced by edge directionality further complicates node interactions, presenting greater challenges for extracting node information.
