Macrophyte-based lake restoration has successfully transitioned lakes from turbid conditions dominated by phytoplankton to a more natural, clear state; however, its impact on microbial carbon pump-mediated dissolved organic carbon (DOM) storage and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the aquatic ecosystem remains largely unexplored. Through a year-long field study, we conducted a comparative analysis of two alternative habitats within the same lake-restored and unrestored areas. Results demonstrated that restoration not only substantially decreases nutrient levels and algal blooms-evidenced by over 50% reductions in nitrogen, phosphorus, and chlorophyll a-but also significantly increases the accumulation of recalcitrant DOM.

Denitrifying bacteria, particularly nirK- and nirS-type, are functionally equivalent and could occupy different niches, but their community assembly mechanisms and responses to environmental heterogeneity are poorly understood in eutrophic lakes. In this study, we investigated the community assembly mechanisms of nirK- and nirS-type denitrifying bacteria and clarified their responses to sediments environmental factors in Lake Taihu, China. A novel protocol for the visible-light-driven synthesis of β-trifluoromethylated enamines has been developed, which operates without the use of transition metals or any photocatalysts, utilizing trifluoromethylthiosulfonium salts as the source of trifluoromethyl groups under mild conditions. According to this new protocol, more than 40 products have been prepared in moderate to good yields. In addition to eliminating the need for expensive or toxic transition metals and photocatalysts, this new methodology proves its potential scalability through air-stability, the use of safe and readily available reagents, a two-step one-pot procedure, and effective gram-scale reactions.

Soy sauce has a rich base of non-volatile substances, but existing studies are insufficient. This study analyzed the metabolites of 19 Chinese commercial soy sauces by UPLC-Orbitrap-MS/MS and GC-Tof-MS derivatization, and detected 674 and 230 kinds of substances, respectively, that could be grouped into 12 different classes of compounds, such as peptides, amino acid derivatives, organic acids, sugars, sugar alcohols, amino acids and so on. For the first time, 215 dipeptides and 91 amino acid derivatives in soy sauce were analyzed in detail and systematically from the perspective of composition and amino acid structure.
