CD4 T follicular helper (T) cells are essential for orchestrating robust humoral immunity, yet the signals that initiate T cell differentiation are not fully understood. We identified that the adapter protein TRAF3 was required for T cell differentiation and function during systemic inflammatory infections. Loss of CD4 T cell-intrinsic TRAF3 impaired chromatin remodeling and transcriptional programming essential for T cell initiation and instead augmented T1 development and function.

Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is mainly performed to restore an anti-tumor immune response, called the graft-versus-tumor (GVT) effect, against leukemia, myeloma and lymphoma. This GVT reactivity is driven by donor T cells, and it can also cause lethal graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). We previously demonstrated that the colonization of mice with helminths preserves the GVT response while suppressing GVHD.

Based on our previous studies, the reconstruction of interlayer edges of black phosphorene (BP) is identified as a key factor impeding the growth of large-size BP films through the CVD method. In this study, we systematically explore the complex growth mechanisms of BP, specifically focusing on how edge reconstruction influences the growth of BP. The results reveal that BP with reconstructed edges is highly stable.

Essential membrane components and metabolites with a wide range of biological roles are both produced by cholesterol metabolism. Cell-intrinsic and cell-extrinsic stimuli alter cholesterol metabolism in the tumor microenvironment (TME), which in turn encourages colorectal carcinogenesis. Metabolites produced from cholesterol play intricate roles in promoting the development of colorectal cancer (CRC) and stifling immunological responses.

Article Synopsis
  • - Metal hydrides like magnesium-based materials are excellent for hydrogen storage, with MgFeH being notable for its high capacity but facing issues with stability and desorption temperature.
  • - Researchers explored cobalt (Co) doping in a new Mg-Fe-Co-H alloy, finding it reduces the band gap by 1.14 eV, which helps promote electron transitions and speeds up hydrogen desorption.
  • - While Co doping slightly decreases the overall hydrogen storage capacity (from 5.45 wt% to 5.32 wt%), it significantly lowers the desorption temperature (from 651 K to 543 K), showing promise for improving hydrogen energy technologies.

Colorectal cancer is frequently diagnosed in advanced stages, highlighting the need for developing approaches for early detection. Liquid biopsy using cell-free DNA (cfDNA) fragmentomics is a promising approach, but the clinical application is hindered by complexity and cost. This study aimed to develop an integrated model using cfDNA fragmentomics for accurate, cost-effective early-stage colorectal cancer detection.

Since the first mouse induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) was derived, the in vitro culture of domestic iPSCs functionally and molecularly comparable with mouse iPSCs has been a challenge. Here, we established dairy goat iPSCs (giPSCs) from goat ear fibroblast cells with mouse iPSCs morphology, the expression of pluripotent markers and differentiation ability in vitro delivered by piggyBac transposon with nine Dox-inducible exogenous reprogramming factors. These reprogramming factors were bOMSK (bovine OCT4, CMYC, SOX2, and KLF4), pNhL (porcine NANOG and human LIN28), hRL (human RARG and LRH1), and SV40 Large T.

Background: Budesonide, capable of reducing vascular permeability, suppressing mucus secretion, and alleviating edema and spasms, is widely used in China for combined infectious disease treatment. This study assesses budesonide's efficacy and safety as an adjunct to azithromycin in pediatric Mycoplasma pneumonia management in China, aiming to establish a strong theoretical foundation for its clinical application.

Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search for qualifying studies across 5 English databases and 4 Chinese databases, covering publications until October 31, 2023.

In real terrain and dynamic obstacle scenarios, the complexity of the 3D UAV path planning problem greatly increases. Thus, to procure the optimal flight path for UAVs in such scenarios, an augmented Artificial Gorilla Troops Optimizer, denoted as OQMGTO, is proposed. The proposed OQMGTO algorithm introduces three strategies: combination mutation, quadratic interpolation, and random opposition-based learning, aiming to enhance the ability to timely escape from local optimal path areas and rapidly converge to the global optimal path.

Introduction: During the global COVID-19 pandemic, densely populated megacities engaged in active international exchanges have faced the most severe impacts from both the disease and the associated infodemic. This study examines the factors influencing public participation behavior on government microblogs in these megacities during the pandemic. It guides megacities in disseminating epidemic information, promoting knowledge on epidemic prevention, managing public opinion, and addressing related matters.

Recent advancements in preparing few-layer black phosphorene (BP) are hindered by edge reconstruction challenges. Our previous studies have revealed the factors contributing to the difficulty of growing few-layer BP. In this study, we have successfully identified three reconstructed edges in bi- and multilayer BP through a combination of the crystal structure analysis by particle swarm optimization (CALYPSO) global structure search and density functional theory (DFT).

Intramuscular fat refers to the adipose tissue distributed in the muscle. It is an important indicator that affects the quality of goat meat, and can directly affect the tenderness and flavor of goat meat. Our previous study revealed the mRNA that may be crucial for intramuscular fat deposition during goat growth; however, how the microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in the process is largely unclear.

It was more than a decade ago that PHF8, KDM7A/JHDM1D and PHF2 were first proposed to be a histone demethylase family and were named as KDM7 (lysine demethylase) family. Since then, knowledge of their demethylation activities, roles as co-regulators of transcription and roles in development and diseases such as cancer has been steadily growing. The demethylation activities of PHF8 and KDM7A toward various methylated histones including H3K9me2/1, H3K27me2 and H4K20me1 have been identified and proven in various cell types.

Acute myelitis defines a group of inflammatory diseases that cause acute nerve damage in the spinal cord; however, its pathophysiology remains to be elusive. In this study, we derived skin fibroblasts from a patient with acute myelitis (P-HAF) and then reprogrammed P-HAF cells to iPSCs using eight exogenous factors (namely, and ).
