To investigate the prospective association of frailty status, especially the early stage, with the long-term risk of Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in a large prospective cohort. We included participants who were free of GERD and cancer at baseline and use of aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) from the UK Biobank (UKB). Frailty status was assessed using Fried phenotype including five items (weight loss, exhaustion, low grip strength, low physical activity, slow walking pace) and classified as non-frail, pre-frail, and frail.

Methods: In July 2024, two researchers independently conducted a thorough literature search across databases such as PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library. The selected studies investigated the correlations between white matter hyperintensities (WMHs), cerebral microbleeds (CMBs), lacunar infarction (LI), and enlarged perivascular spaces (EPVS) and the risk of AD.
The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between college students' perception of physical education (PE) teachers' transformational leadership and exercise adherence, as well as the mediating effects of physical self-efficacy and exercise motivation. Using the transformational teaching questionnaire, physical self-efficacy scale, exercise motivation scale, and exercise adherence scale, the study surveyed 868 valid questionnaires. The results showed: (1) College students' perception of PE teachers' transformational leadership has a significant positive impact on exercise adherence; (2) Physical self-efficacy plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between students' perception of PE teachers' transformational leadership and exercise adherence; (3) Exercise motivation partially mediates the relationship between students' perception of PE teachers' transformational leadership and exercise adherence; (4) Physical self-efficacy and exercise motivation exhibit a serial mediating effect in the relationship between students' perception of PE teachers' transformational leadership and exercise adherence.

One reason for this is the lack of knowledge on how complex substrates secreted in the microbiome ultimately shape the microbe-microbe and plant-microbe interaction in relation to plant growth. One such complex substrate is poly-γ-glutamic acid, which is a microbially derived extracellular polymer.

Co-expression and Cox regression analyses identified 9 prognostic lncRNAs, which were closely associated with tumor immune characteristics and immune escape. The model also predicted the sensitivity of drugs, including Entinostat, SB216763, and Sapitinib.

The connection between those properties and leukemia stem cells (LSCs) in AML remains poorly understood. In this study, we demonstrate that leukemia cells with high signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1) expression preserve quiescent properties, in contrast, leukemia cells with low STAT1 expression possess active and vulnerable apoptotic properties in AML model, highlighting the differential impact of STAT1 expression on cellular behavior in acute myeloid leukemia.

However, in non-model strains, genetic editing-based HTS is often not feasible. Here, a substrate-modified HTS strategy using Starmerella bombicola PL0120, a sophorolipids (SLs)-producing strain, was designed.

Transmembrane protein 30 A (TMEM30A) downregulation participates in podocyte injury. This study aimed to identify the critical pathways and molecules associated with the downregulation of TMEM30A in the context of FSGS podocyte injury.

Using the hierarchical equations of motion (HEOM) method, we simulate the linear absorption and two-dimensional electronic spectra (2DES) for a dimer model based on bottleneck sites in the light-harvesting complex of photosystem II. A site-dependent spectral density is incorporated, with only the low-energy site being coupled to the resonance mode.

Background: α thalassemia/mental retardation syndrome X-linked (ATRX) serves as a part of the sucrose nonfermenting 2 (SNF2) chromatin-remodeling complex. In interphase, ATRX localizes to pericentromeric heterochromatin, contributing to DNA double-strand break repair, DNA replication, and telomere maintenance. During mitosis, most ATRX proteins are removed from chromosomal arms, leaving a pool near the centromere region in mammalian cells, which is critical for accurate chromosome congression and sister chromatid cohesion protection.

The formation of large polarons resulting from the Fröhlich coupling of photogenerated carriers with the polarized crystal lattice is considered crucial in shaping the outstanding optoelectronic properties in hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite crystals. Until now, the initial polaron dynamics after photoexcitation have remained elusive in the hybrid perovskite system. Here, based on the terahertz time-domain spectroscopy and optical-pump terahertz probe, we access the nature of interplay between photoexcited unbound charge carriers and optical phonons in MAPbBr within the initial 5 ps after excitation and have demonstrated the simultaneous existence of both electron- and hole-polarons, together with the photogenerated carrier dynamic process.
