Two-dimensional MC-MXenes, characterized by their lightweight nature, tunable surface structures, and strong affinity for hydrogen, hold significant promise for addressing various challenges in hydrogen energy utilization. This study focuses on investigating the hydrogen adsorption and desorption properties, as well as the stability of hydrogenated compounds in 19 pure MC-MXenes nanosheets. The results indicate that hydrogen adsorption on MC primarily occurs through weak physisorption, with MnC and FeC from the fourth period, and AgC and CdC from the fifth period exhibiting the lowest adsorption energies.

The aim of this study was to assess MCT4 expression in primary tumor and liver oligometastases, investigate its impact on immune cell infiltration and its prognostic value for CLO patients undergoing liver resection.
Methods: We retrospectively selected 135 CLO patients who underwent curative liver resection between June 1999 and December 2016, and samples included 74 primary tumor tissues and 122 liver metastases.
Introduction: Individualized treatment of colorectal cancer liver metastases (CRLM) remains challenging due to differences in the severity of metastatic disease and tumour biology. Exploring specific prognostic risk subgroups is urgently needed. The current study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of chromosomal instability (CIN) in patients with initially resectable CRLM and the predictive value of CIN for the efficacy of bevacizumab.

This study aims to assess the prognostic value of a model that combines LODDS with clinicopathological information for stage III colon cancer patients and aims to stratify these patients using the model, identifying individuals who could benefit from varying durations of adjuvant chemotherapy.
Method: A total of 663 consecutive patients diagnosed with stage III colon cancer, who underwent colon tumor resection between November 2007 and June 2020 at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and Longyan First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University, were enrolled in this study.
In nature, selective interactions between chiral amino acids and crystals are important for the formation of chiral biominerals and provide insight into the mysterious origin of homochirality. Here, we show that chiral amino acids with different hydrophilicities/hydrophobicities exhibit different chiral selectivity preferences in the dynamically growing gypsum [001] steps. Hydrophilic amino acids show a chiral selectivity preference for their d-isomers, whereas hydrophobic amino acids prefer their l-isomers.

This is a retrospective study that includes 502 patients who underwent either laparoscopic or robotic anterior resection and abdominoperineal resection for rectal or sigmoid colon cancer between August 2016 and September 2021. All patients were diagnosed with rectal or sigmoid colon adenocarcinoma.

However, few studies have reported on the prognostic value of the PSN panel in stage III colon cancer patients receiving capecitabine and oxaliplatin adjuvant chemotherapy.
Objectives: This study aimed to validate PSN's prognostic impact on stage III colon cancer, identifying candidates for optimized adjuvant chemotherapy duration.
Background: Intrahepatic recurrence is one of the main causes of treatment failure in patients with colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CRLM). Hepatic steatosis was reported to provide fertile soil for metastasis. The effect of irinotecan-inducted hepatic steatosis on the progression of liver metastasis remains to be verified.

This review synthesizes evidence on curcumin's mechanisms, including modulation of immune responses and promotion of wound healing, showcasing its efficacy in reducing inflammation, cytokine levels, and enhancing skin barrier functions. Studies highlight curcumin's ability to selectively target tumor cells, suggesting a multifaceted approach to cancer therapy with minimal side effects.

Methods: The authors performed a multicenter, open-label, randomized, phase III trial. All eligible patients were randomized and assigned to intraoperative chemotherapy and curative surgical resection or curative surgical resection alone (1:1).

Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is a classic type of cardiovascular disease characterized by injury to cardiomyocytes leading to different types of cell death. The degree of irreversible myocardial damage is closely related to age, and ferroptosis is involved in cardiomyocyte damage. However, the mechanisms underlying ferroptosis regulation in aging myocardial I/R injury are still unclear.

We determined the potential biomarkers of refractory gout and attempted to explore the relation between potential biomarkers and diet structures and exercise patterns.
Methods: The study employed a questionnaire survey to analyze diet structures and exercise patterns from 100 patients of refractory gout and 79 healthy volunteers.
Mutant KRAS (KRAS) is often exploited by cancers to shape tumor immunity, but the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. Here we report that tumor-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) from KRAS cancers are sensitive to activation-induced cell death (AICD). circATXN7, an NF-κB-interacting circular RNA, governs T cell sensitivity to AICD by inactivating NF-κB.

Herein, the single Fe atom is functioned with nitrogen and carbon atoms in the first shell, and simultaneously, oxidized sulfur (─SOx) in the second shell, which presents a lower antibonding state and well address the redox activity of sulfur cathodes. In the ternary-coordinated single Fe atom catalyst (FeNC-SOx-NC), the binary structure of FeNC provides a lower Fe-S bonding strength and d-p orbital hybridization, which obviously optimizes the adsorption and desorption behavior of sulfur species during the reduction and oxidation reaction processes.

Methods: We analyzed data from 917 patients with a self-reported history of stroke from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2007-2018.
Background And Purpose: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) has become an essential component of the comprehensive treatment of cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC). However, not all patients respond to chemotherapy due to individual differences in sensitivity and tolerance to chemotherapy drugs. Therefore, accurately predicting the sensitivity of CSCC patients to NACT was vital for individual chemotherapy.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of the pathological tumor burden score in patients with or without neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC).
Methods: A total of 348 patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) who underwent curative hepatic resection were retrospectively enrolled from September 1999 to December 2016.
The deterioration process and deterioration mechanism of magnesium oxychloride cement (MOC) in an alkaline environment were studied using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and a micro-electro-hydraulic servo pressure testing machine to investigate the effects of soaking time in 10 wt.% NaOH solution on the macro- and micro-morphology, phase composition and compressive strength of MOC samples. The results show that the deterioration of MOC samples under an alkaline environment is mainly caused by the alkaline environment providing more OH ions, which can react with 5Mg(OH)·MgCl·8HO (P 5) in the sample.

And induction of hypoxia and the tumors response to it plays an important role in determining the efficacy of antiangiogenic therapy while the connection between them remains unclear. Here, we found that lactate accumulated in the tumor environment of CRC and acted as substrates for histone lactylation, and this process was further induced by cellular enhanced glycolysis in hypoxia.

Adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) is usually used to reduce the risk of disease relapse and improve survival for stage II/III colorectal cancer (CRC). However, only a subset of patients could benefit from ACT. Thus, there is an urgent need to identify improved biomarkers to predict survival and stratify patients to refine the selection of ACT.
