Properties such as lower melting temperature, good tensile strength, good reliability, and well creep resistance, together with low production cost, make the system Bi-Sn an ideal candidate for fine soldering in applications such as reballing or reflow. The first objective of the work was to determine the thermodynamic quantities of Bi and Sn using the electromotive force measurement method in an electrolytic cell (Gibbs' enthalpies of the mixture, integral molar entropies, and the integral molar excess entropies were determined) at temperatures of 600 K and 903 K. The second objective addressed is the comprehensive characterization of three alloy compositions that were selected and elaborated, namely Bi25Sn75, Bi50Sn50, and Bi75Sn25, and morphological and structural investigations were carried out on them.

Objective: This study attempts to integrate multiple methods to investigate the presence of malaria in human skeletal samples from an archaeological context.

Materials: 33 well preserved human remains originating from a 17th-century archaeological site in southeastern Romania.

Methods: The human bone samples were analyzed using rapid diagnostic tests for malaria antigens and PCR amplification of Plasmodium falciparum apical membrane antigen 1.

The scope of this study consists of setting up of an integrated cost-effective sampling & laboratory analyses procedure which delineates sampling, sub-sampling and analytical uncertainties in case of fine-grained extractive waste deposits. This procedure is designed to support the decision makers towards fine-grained waste deposits upcycling and land reclamation. This procedure consists of a balanced replicated sampling design (BRSD) coupled with a three split levels ANOVA data processing.

While emotion dysregulation is associated with many psychological disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), it remains uncertain whether pre-existing emotion dysregulation increases individual risk for prospectively developing PTSD in the aftermath of trauma exposure. Thus, the objective of the current study was to determine whether emotion dysregulation could prospectively predict the development of chronic PTSD symptoms following a traumatic event above and beyond other known associated factors, including depressive symptoms, baseline PTSD symptoms, total traumas experienced, and exposure to interpersonal trauma. Participants (N = 135) were recruited from the emergency department (ED) at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and follow-up assessments were conducted at 1-, 3-, 6-, and 12-months following trauma exposure.

Higher-noble dental alloys (Au, Ag, and Pd) are the most desirable for dentistry applications, but they are expensive. Low-noble (Ag, Pd, Cu) dental alloys are alternatives to higher-noble ones due to their lower price. In this regard, the paper supports the price lowering of dental alloy by increasing the Cu content, i.

This study aimed to assess women's willingness to alter mammogram frequency based on their low risk for HBOC, and to examine if cognitive and emotional factors are associated with women's inclination to decrease mammogram frequency. We conducted an online survey with women (N = 124) who were unlikely to have a BRCA mutation and at average population risk for breast cancer based on family history. Most women were either white (50%) or African American (38%) and were 50 years or older (74%).

"Orostim" is a polymicrobial immunomodulator for oral administration, obtained from bacterial suspensions, disintegrated by ultrasonics and dried by atomization. The preparation was chemically characterized before and after atomization without presenting essential modifications. Orostim was not shown to be toxic in mice and rats by esophageal intubation, as long as 20 days.

There were investigated possible deleterious effects induced in white mice and rabbits by prolonged administration of polidin in different concentrations, as well as of polidin associated with membrane fraction of Klebsiella pneumoniae. In the experimental model used all the animals evolved normally presenting some transient blood modifications which occurred after administration of comparatively much higher doses than those usually administered in man. There were not noticed significant macroscopical and microscopical modifications at the level of the organs sampled from mice.

This study was carried out on 6 patients with myxedema that showed major muscular alterations. Light and electron microscopic examinations of the striated muscle structure revealed myxedematous myopathy lesions. Considering the existence of several hypotheses regarding the pathogeny of muscular alterations, the authors discuss the likelihood of a myogenic syndrome induced by an immunity deficit in hypothyroidism.
