Atorvastatin is a potent lipid-lowering drug with poor solubility and high presystemic clearance that limits its therapeutic efficacy. The aim of this study was to develop solid dispersions and micellar systems to obtain fast-dissolving atorvastatin systems that enhances their anti-hyperlipidemic effect. Solubility and wettability studies allow the development of solid dispersions with low proportions of croscarmellose sodium as hydrophilic carrier.

The colon has a higher pH than the rest of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and this can be used as a modified release strategy. Eudragit polymers are the most widely used synthetic products in the design of colonic release formulations because they might offer mucoadhesiveness and pH-dependent release.

Data obtained from bioequivalence trials for healthy subjects were used to evaluate the influence of demographic and pharmacogenetic factors on imatinib pharmacokinetics (PK) in a collective without concurrent drugs, organ dysfunction, inflammation etc.

The main goal was to ensure rapid disintegration and high dissolution rate of the active ingredient, thus enhancing its bioavailability. The design started from a careful selection of excipients, which due to their characteristics and proportions within the formulation allowed the use of their properties such as fluidity or granulometric distribution.

This work proposes the design of novel oral disintegrating tablets (ODTs) of loperamide HCl with special emphasis on disintegration and dissolution studies. The main goal was augmenting the adherence to treatment of diseases which happen with diarrhea in soldiers who are exposed to diverse kinds of hostile environments. Optimized orally disintegrating tablets were prepared by the direct compression method from galenic development to the industrial scale technique, thanks to strategic and support actions between the Spanish Army Force Lab and the Department of Biomedical Sciences (UAH).

Pharmacogenetics research focusing on the mechanisms underlying imatinib suboptimal response might help to explain the different treatment outcomes and drug safety profiles.
Objective: To investigate whether polymorphisms in genes encoding cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes and ABCB1 transporter affect imatinib pharmacokinetic parameters.
Despite the increase in the substitution of branded medicinal product with generic drugs, this is a controversial issue for some pharmacological groups (such as contraceptives). The aim of the present clinical trial was to assess the bioequivalence and tolerability of two oral formulations of desogestrel.Thirty-three healthy female volunteers participated in this randomized and two-way crossover study.

Solid dispersions were prepared by the solvent method and analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry. The solubility was measured at 15-35 degrees C in aqueous (ethanol-water) and non-aqueous (ethanol-ethyl acetate) mixtures.

Efforts should be made to demonstrate the therapeutic equivalence and safety comparability between them. Given that systemic availability significantly varies from formulations, the clinical comparability of diverse products comes to be of clinical interest and a regulatory requirement.

The solubility curves as a function of dioxane ratio showed a maximum at 90% dioxane at all temperatures. Above 25 degrees C, the homogeneous mixture splits into two liquid immiscible phases.
