In Arabidopsis thaliana, Fe starvation limits infection by necrotrophic pathogens. Objective: To evaluate the CSF levels of chitinase proteins during the presymptomatic and early symptomatic phases of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Methods: CSF samples were obtained from 16 controls, 55 individuals at-risk for ALS (including 18 carrying a mutation in C9ORF72, 33 in SOD1), 12 ALS patients, and 7 phenoconverters (individuals diagnosed with ALS during follow-up). At-risk individuals and phenoconverters were enrolled through the Pre-fALS study, which includes individuals carrying an ALS-associated gene mutation without disease manifestations at initial assessment.

On a 3.0T MR scanner with a wrist coil, tumors were monitored weekly by T2-/T1-weighted images (T2WI/T1WI) and characterized by Mn-DPDP-enhanced MRI.

Identification of molecular pathways important in the progression of left ventricular remodeling in patients with CPMR may lead to development of new therapeutic strategies.
Methods And Results: We performed baseline echocardiographic, cardiac catheterization, and serum NT-pro-BNP analysis in patients with severe CPMR awaiting mitral valve surgery and stratified the study population into compensated or decompensated CPMR.
The present study aimed to investigate the preventive effects of methanol fraction from leaf extract (MECA), associated with its phytochemical content, on CCl-induced hepatic toxicity in adult rats. In the controls, CCl induced an increase of serum biochemical parameters and triggered oxidative stress in the liver. MECA caused significant reductions in CCl-elevated levels of hepatic markers, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein and increased the level of high-density lipoprotein compared to the CCl group.
