Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Prunella vulgaris L. (PV) is a widely distributed medicinal and edible plant used in traditional Chinese medicine for its anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, and anti-hypertensive effects. Despite the numerous studies reporting on its cardiovascular protective effects, it is still not known whether PV could relieve myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (MI/R) injury.

While its effect on short-term survival is well-documented, its long-term implications remain unclear.
Aims: This study aims to investigate the long-term impact of post-TIPS OHE on mortality in cirrhotic patients for variceal bleeding, focusing on the timing and predictive value of OHE beyond the first year post-TIPS.
Dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) is a subtype of LPS characterized by two distinct levels of differentiation and morphological structures, comprising areas of well-differentiated LPS and dedifferentiated, non-lipogenic, highly malignant components. DDLPS most frequently occurs in the retroperitoneum and the soft tissues of the pelvis and limbs, and is rare in the head and neck region, accounting for only 1% of head and neck sarcomas. The present study describes the case of a 72-year-old male with a 30-year history of left upper limb numbness and heaviness.

Despite substantial progress in the management of UC, the outcomes of mucosal barrier repair are unsatisfactory. In this study, phillygenin (PHI) treatment alleviated the symptoms of chronic colitis in mice, including body weight loss, severe disease activity index scores, colon shortening, splenomegaly, oxidative stress, and inflammatory response.

However, an optimal route of administration, dosage, and treatment duration have not yet been established. This study is to assess the effects of intravenous dexamethasone administration on postoperative pain management and prognosis in patients undergoing TKA.

Fe-based catalysts and the green oxidant peracetic acid (PAA) are desirable candidates for the development of catalytic membranes because they are environmentally friendly. However, the construction of catalytic ceramic membranes (CMs) modified with efficient Fe-based catalysts that generate increased amounts of high-valent Fe-O species during PAA activation for the degradation of specific pollutants, especially during instantaneous membrane filtration, remains challenging.

The E1 protein of GETV plays a crucial role in mediating the fusion of viruses and host cells. In this study, the recombinant GETV E1 protein was expressed and administered to BALB/c mice.

Although its underlying pathogenesis remains poorly understood, both inflammaging and gut microbiota dysbiosis have been hypothesized to play significant roles. This study investigated the role of gut microbiota in the pathogenesis of aCSVD through a comparative analysis of the gut microbiome and metabolome between CSVD patients and healthy controls.

This study introduced a novel pretreatment method utilizing Co nanoparticles-encapsulated carbon nanotubes activated peroxymonosulfate (Co@CNT/PMS) to degrade EfOM and mitigate membrane fouling. Characterization of Co@CNT revealed the efficient encapsulation of Co nanoparticles within nanotubes, which notably enhanced the catalytic degradation of bisphenol A and typical organics.

The most discussed and successful approach is the Illizarov technique, or lengthening over a nail (LON):distraction osteogenesis is also widely performed with monoliteral external fixators and intramedullarylengthening nails have increasingly been used in the last decade.
Methods: The data were collected from PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and the Web of Science for all available studies comparing the outcomes of Ilizarov technique alone and LON technique (from January 1, 1997, to November 30, 2023).
Background: Mesenteric adipose tissue (mAT) hyperplasia, known as creeping fat, is a pathologic characteristic of Crohn's disease (CD). In our previously reported cohort, we observed that Achromobacter pulmonis was the most abundant and prevalent bacteria cultivated from creeping fat.
Methods: A whole genomic sequencing and identification of T3SS orthologs of mAT-derived A.
High-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) is a fatal threat for sojourners who ascend rapidly without sufficient acclimatization. Acclimatized sojourners and adapted natives are both insensitive to HAPE but have different physiological traits and molecular bases. In this study, based on GSE52209, the gene expression profiles of HAPE patients were compared with those of acclimatized sojourners and adapted natives, with the common and divergent differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and their hub genes identified, respectively.

In this work, ferrate(VI)-based oxidation was proposed for membrane fouling alleviation in SGPW pretreatment, and the activation strategies of calcium peroxide (CaO) and ultraviolet (UV) were selected for comparison. The findings indicated that UV/Fe(VI) was more effective in removing fluorescent components, and the concentration of dissolved organic carbon was reduced by 24.

This nationwide multicenter cohort study aimed to evaluate whether adding variceal embolization to a small diameter (8-mm) TIPS could reduce the rebleeding incidence in patients with different types of GVs.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study involved 629 patients who underwent 8-mm TIPS for gastric varices at 7 medical centers.

Objectives: The efficacy of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) plus extrahepatic collateral embolisation (TIPS+E) in reducing rebleeding and hepatic encephalopathy (HE) post-TIPS was recently reported in a meta-analysis, but further validation is essential. This study aims to confirm the effectiveness of TIPS+E using real-world data.
Methods: The multicentre retrospective cohort included 2077 patients with cirrhosis who underwent TIPS±E (TIPS: 631, TIPS+E: 1446) between January 2010 and December 2022.
This study was designed to explore the protective effect and mechanism of naringin (NG) on radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD) in rats. Rats were divided into four x-ray (XR) irradiation groups with different absorbed doses (0/10/15/20 Gy), or into three groups (control, XR, and XR + NG groups). Subsequently, the ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus was adopted to assess and compare the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular fractional shortening (LVFS), left ventricular internal diameter at end diastole (LVIDd), and left ventricular internal diameter at end systole (LVIDs) in rats.

The successful synthesis of CuO@BC was demonstrated through characterization of its microscopic morphology and chemical composition by various techniques. The prepared heterogeneous catalyst showed a strong catalytic effect on PMS, which significantly removed natural organic matter through the production of active substances (OH, SO, O and O) from water.
