Glomerulonephritis (GN) is one of the main causes of end stage renal disease and requires an effective treatment for inhibiting GN. Renal nerves through efferent (RENA) and afferent (RANA) innervation to glomeruli regulate the glomerular function. We delineated the role of RENA and RANA on anti-Thy1.

Background: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a prevalent complication of diabetes and the leading cause of end-stage renal disease. Recent evidence suggests that total flavonoids of Astragalus (TFA) has promising effects on diabetes; however, its influence on DKD and the underlying mechanism remains unclear.

Methods: In this study, we induced the DKD model using streptozotocin (STZ) in male C57BL/6J mice and utilized glomerular endothelial cell (GEC) lines for in vitro investigations.

Background: In recent years, mobile health (mHealth) has gradually developed in China, and intelligent medicine has become an important research topic. However, there are still significant problems in mHealth applications (apps). Although healthcare professionals and patients are the main users, few studies have focused on their perceptions of the quality of mHealth apps.

This meta-analysis evaluated the beneficial and potential adverse effects of Astragalus in the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The authors searched for randomized controlled trials of Astragalus treatment for patients with T2DM in the following databases: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database (CNKI), Wanfang Data, China Science and Technology Journal Database (CQVIP), and SinoMed. Two reviewers conducted independent selection of studies, data extraction, and coding, as well as the assessment of risk of bias in the studies included.

Lung cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in the world, and its incidence and mortality rate rank among the top malignant tumors worldwide, which has become an important killer threatening human survival rate and well-being. Modern medical treatment for lung cancer is mainly based on surgery and radiotherapy, with gene, targeted drugs and immunotherapy as auxiliary treatments, which are effective, but there are problems such as postoperative recurrence, resistance to radiotherapy, toxic side effects and poor compliance. In recent years, with the continuous development of TCM, TCM is popular among physicians and patients for its high efficiency, low toxicity, low side effects and economic benefits, etc.

Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) belong to one class of phase 2 detoxification enzymes which are important in metabolism and/or detoxification of various electrophilic endogenous metabolites and xenobiotics. From the available database, we found that GSTM2 gene expression is lower in high stages of bladder urothelial carcinoma than in stage 1 and normal bladder tissue. GSTM2 overexpression retards invasion, migration and tumor sphere formation of bladder cancer cells.

The COVID-19 outbreak, designated a "pandemic" by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 11 March 2020, has spread worldwide rapidly. Each country implemented prevention and control strategies, mainly classified as SARS LCS (SARS-like containment strategy) or PAIN LMS (pandemic influenza-like mitigation strategy). The reasons for variation in each strategy's efficacy in controlling COVID-19 epidemics were unclear and are investigated in this paper.

A novel coronavirus that emerged in late 2019 rapidly spread around the world. Most severe cases need endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation, and some mild cases may need emergent surgery under general anesthesia. The novel coronavirus was reported to transmit via droplets, contact and natural aerosols from human to human.

: In patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), it is not clear whether low-dose renin-angiotensin system inhibitors and beta-blockers can result in the same benefits achievable with higher target doses. This observational study aims to investigate whether higher doses of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI)/angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB) and beta-blockers can improve outcomes in patients with STEMI. : We recorded daily doses of ACEI, ARB, and beta-blockers in 331 patients with STEMI.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how the triazole fungicide tebuconazole affects male rats by inducing cytochrome P450 enzymes, causing oxidative stress, and disrupting endocrine function.
  • Tebuconazole increased various liver enzymes linked to drug metabolism while decreasing enzyme activity in the testes, showcasing its complex impact on organ functionality.
  • Additionally, the treatment resulted in lower testosterone levels and sperm count, indicating potential anti-androgenic effects.

Eupatorium (family: Compositae), which comprises nearly 1200 species, is distributed throughout tropical America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Up to now, the reported constituents from the genus Eupatorium involve flavonoids, terpenoids, pyrrolizidine alkaloids, phenylpropanoids, quinonoids, essential oils, and some others, altogether more than 300 compounds. Studies have shown that Eupatorium and its active principles possess a wide range of pharmacological activities, such as cytotoxic, antifungal, insecticidal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antinociceptive activities.

Background: Electroacupuncture pretreatment plays a protective role in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury and microRNAs (miRNAs) could act on various facets of cardiac function. However, the role of miRNAs in the cardioprotection by electroacupuncture pretreatment on myocardial I/R injury remains unknown. The purpose of the study was to examine whether miR-214 was involved in cardioprotection by electroacupuncture.
