With the growth of the population, the demand for aquatic products is increasing. Additionally, the development of the aquaculture industry has led to a heightened demand for fishmeal (FM). FM is a high-protein feed raw material made from one or more types of fish, which has been deoiled, dehydrated, and crushed.

COVID-19 patients can develop clinical and histopathological features associated with fibrosis, but the pathogenesis of fibrosis remains poorly understood. CD147 has been identified as a universal receptor for SARS-CoV-2 and its variants, which could initiate COVID-19-related cytokine storm. Here, we systemically analyzed lung pathogenesis in SARS-CoV-2- and its delta variant-infected humanized CD147 transgenic mice.

Ferroptosis is a novel form of cell death characterized by the lethal accumulation of iron and lipid peroxidation, which is associated with many diseases. Our study addressed the potential role played by ferroptosis and iron accumulation in the progression of pulmonary fibrosis.

In this work, seven phenolic compounds from walnut diaphragm were purified and characterized, and their antioxidant activities and mechanisms of hypoglycemia were investigated. Compounds 1-7 were tested for DPPH, ABTS scavenging ability, and FRAP assay to evaluate the antioxidant activity.

In progressive rheumatoid arthritis (RA), synovial fibroblasts proliferate abnormally in the presence of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and elevated lipid oxidation. Here we show, using a collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mouse model, that imidazole ketone erastin (IKE), a ferroptosis inducer, decreases fibroblast numbers in the synovium.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFerroptosis, a form of programmed cell death process driven by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation, plays an important role in tumor suppression. Although previous study showed that intracellular Merlin-Hippo signaling suppresses ferroptosis of epithelial tumor cells through the inactivation of YAP signaling, it remains elusive if the proto-oncogenic transcriptional co-activator YAP could serve as a potential biomarker to predict cancer cell response to ferroptosis-inducing therapies. In this study, we show that both total YAP staining and nuclear YAP staining were more prevalent in HCC tissues than in nontumorous regions.

An in-depth investigation on COVID-19 pathogenesis is urgently needed to develop a strategy against SARS-CoV-2 variants. Here, we identified CD147 as a universal receptor for SARS-CoV-2 and its variants.

Here, we used surface-based morphometry (SBM) and tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) to investigate gray matter (GM) and white matter (WM) differences between patients with DPN (n = 67, 44 painless and 23 painful) and healthy controls (HCs; n = 88). Compared with HCs, patients with DPN exhibited GM abnormalities in the pre- and postcentral gyrus and in several deep GM nuclei (caudate, putamen, medial pallidum, thalamus, and ventral nuclear).

In this study, we applied siRNAs targeting the UL39 gene of human herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), which encodes the large subunit of ribonucleotide reductase, ICP6. Using an ICP6 expression reporter plasmid and an in vitro model of infection, we showed that synthetic siRNA silenced effectively and specifically UL39 mRNA expression and inhibited HSV-1 replication.

Methods: Seventeen patients with initial MR and clinical findings suggestive of spinal vascular diseases underwent CT spinal angiography. Among these, 14 patients took DSA examination within 1 week after CT scan, 7 patients underwent surgical treatment, and 6 patients underwent vascular intervention embolotheraphy.
