Latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a transforming protein that affects multiple cell signaling pathways and contributes to EBV-associated oncogenesis. LMP1 can be expressed in some states of EBV latency, and significant induction of full-length LMP1 is also observed frequently during virus reactivation into the lytic cycle. It is still unknown how LMP1 expression is regulated during the lytic stage and whether any EBV lytic protein is involved in the induction of LMP1.

However, the overall incidence of ras mutations in thyroid tumors and their frequency in specific histologic types varies widely in different series. Many earlier studies have chosen allele-specific oligonucleotide hybridization approaches to examine ras mutations without further confirmation of the positive samples by DNA sequencing.

Although other organs transplanted in a similar fashion within the same combination have been promptly rejected, 60 day post-OLT serum (POD 60) has been proven competent in rapidly reversing the established rejection in animal models. In order to understand the functional role of tolerogenic serum proteins and their involvement with immune response regulation, a comprehensive analysis surveying global changes in complex OLT systems by proteomic techniques was applied.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the consequences of treatment with a supraphysiological dose of levothyroxine (l-T4) on bone mineral density (BMD) in Taiwanese women with differentiated thyroid cancer.
Methods: A total of 69 (44 premenopausal, 25 postmenopausal) Taiwanese women with differentiated thyroid cancer were included in this retrospective study.
Background: In the management of patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma, direct comparison of the presence of scintigraphic stunning after a diagnostic dose of 131I with subsequent successful ablation has not been evaluated.
Methods: This study included 245 patients who received a dose of 2775-3700 MBq of 131I for thyroid remnant ablation. In all patients, the thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) level before ablation was more than 30 microlU x ml.

To understand the effects of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) on adrenal aldosterone biosynthesis, we have performed a systematical study to characterize the corresponding steroidogenic response of human adrenocortical cell line H295R to PCB126 exposure. We found that PCB126 at high concentrations stimulated basal and inducible aldosterone production. The aldosterone induction occurred concomitantly with activation of the CYP11B2 gene.

Our primary aim was to test for the association of this SNP with the relapse of the hyperthyroidism after antithyroid withdrawal. Our secondary aim was to investigate the relationship between GD patients and controls according to the SNP genotypes.

Thyroid hormones, which increase the basal metabolic rate and thermogenesis, have been reported to be one of leptin's regulating factors because alternations in thyroid status might lead to compensatory changes in circulating leptin.
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the influence of sequential changes in thyroid function on serum leptin levels.
The relative effect of an increase in low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) concentration, as compared with insulin resistance and its manifestations, on intimal medial thickening (IMT) of the common carotid artery was defined in 72 healthy men and women. Insulin-mediated glucose disposal was quantified by the insulin suppression tests, in which the height of the steady-state plasma glucose (SSPG) concentration during the last 30 minutes of a 180-minute infusion of octreotide, insulin, and glucose provides an estimate of insulin resistance. IMT was determined by high-resolution B-mode ultrasonography.
