The decay of spin-valley states is studied in a suspended carbon nanotube double quantum dot via the leakage current in Pauli blockade and via dephasing and decoherence of a qubit. From the magnetic field dependence of the leakage current, hyperfine and spin-orbit contributions to relaxation from blocked to unblocked states are identified and explained quantitatively by means of a simple model. The observed qubit dephasing rate is consistent with the hyperfine coupling strength extracted from this model and inconsistent with dephasing from charge noise.

Adherens junctions-associated protein 1 (AJAP1) is an integral membrane protein that is thought to function as a tumor suppressor in various malignancies. Downregulation of AJAP1 mRNA levels may predict recurrence in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients, but the underlying molecular mechanism is unknown. Eighteen novel ciprofloxacin-histone deacetylase inhibitor (HDACi) conjugates were designed and synthesized from suberic acid and ciprofloxacin via esterification and amidation reaction. All conjugates were confirmed by the application of (1)H NMR and HR-MS spectra, their activities against HDACs were evaluated by HDACs assay kit and the anti-tumor activities were evaluated in five cancer cells with CCK-8 assay. The preliminary biological results showed that these conjugates displayed potent activity against HDACs and significant anti-proliferative effect on the cancer cells.

Background: Once hypertension is established, increased mechanical stretch stress becomes a leading cause of vascular remodeling. Clinical antihypertension guidelines demonstrate that antihypertension drugs prevent vascular remodeling in hypertensive patients mainly by lowering blood pressure, suggesting an indirect way of reducing the effects of stretch stress (hypertension). Whether these drugs can directly block the effects of the stretch stress on vascular remodeling has not been reported to date.

Some colorectal carcinoma (CRC) invades into vessels and has distal metastasis, largely attributable to the dissemination of tumor cells into circulation as circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Moreover, cancer stem cells (CSCs) within CTCs, which are termed as circulating tumor stem-like cells (CTSCs), are critical for formation of distal metastatic tumors. In an optomechanical setup, the coupling between cavity and resonator can be increased by tuning them to the same frequency. We study this interaction between a carbon nanotube resonator and a radio-frequency tank circuit acting as a cavity. In this resonant regime, the vacuum optomechanical coupling is enhanced by the dc voltage coupling the cavity and the mechanical resonator.

A typical water system of agricultural headwater stream in Chaohu Lake basin was selected as the study area, and 17, 16, 14 and 13 surface sediments were collected from the four styles of stream, respectively, including ponds, branches, main channel and mainstream deep pools, in October 2014 (in autumn) and April 2015 (in spring). The forms and space-time variations of phosphorus in the sediments were analyzed. Clustering and variance analysis were conducted on the phosphorus forms data from the four styles of stream by means of multivariate statistical analyses.

We explored the anti-cancer capacity of (-)-oleocanthal in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). (-)-Oleocanthal inhibited proliferation and cell cycle progression and induced apoptosis in HCC cells in vitro and suppressed tumor growth in an orthotopic HCC model. (-)-Oleocanthal also inhibited HCC cell migration and invasion in vitro and impeded HCC metastasis in an in vivo lung metastasis model.

To investigate the soil phosphorus forms and leaching risk in a typically agricultural catchment of Ershibu River in Hefei Suburban, Chaohu Lake basin, 132 surface soil samples were collected from the catchment area. The spatial distribution of total phosphorus (TP) and bio-available phosphorus (Bio-P), and the spatial variability of soil available phosphorus (Olsen-P) and easy desorption phosphorus (CaCl2-P) were analyzed using the Kriging technology of AreGIS after speciation analysis of soil phosphorus. Moreover, the enrichment level of soil phosphorus was studied, and the phosphorus leaching risk was evaluated through determining the leaching threshold value of soil phosphorus.

The heterostructures of three-dimensional CdS urchin-like microspheres separately decorated with hematite α-Fe2O3 or magnetite Fe3O4 nanoparticles were successfully synthesized via a two-step solvothermal deposition. Each CdS urchin-like microspheres had an average diameter of 2 μm, which was composed of nanorods with average diameters of 10nm. α-Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 nanoparticles, with diameters of about 20 nm and 30 nm, respectively, anchored on the nanorods of CdS urchins.

While constructing general integrated circuits (ICs) with field-effect transistors (FETs) built on individual CNTs is among few viable ways to build ICs with small dimension and high performance that can be compared with that of state-of-the-art Si based ICs, this has not been demonstrated owing to the absence of valid and well-tolerant fabrication method. Here we demonstrate a modularized method for constructing general ICs on individual CNTs with different electric properties. A pass-transistor-logic style 8-transistor (8-T) unit is built, demonstrated as a multifunctional function generator with good tolerance to inhomogeneity in the CNTs used and used as a building block for constructing general ICs.
