The choroid is the most vascularized structure in the human eye, associated with numerous retinal and choroidal diseases. However, the vessel distribution of choroidal sublayers has yet to be effectively explored due to the lack of suitable tools for visualization and analysis. In this paper, we present a novel choroidal angiography strategy to more effectively evaluate vessels within choroidal sublayers in the clinic.

Discrepancies between self-reported medication in adherence and indirect measurement adherence among patients undergoing antiretroviral therapy: a systematic review.

Background: Given the critical importance of medication adherence in HIV/AIDS treatment, this study aims to compare medication adherence measured by self-report (SR) and indirect measurement among antiretroviral therapy (ART) patients, exploring the differences of adherence results measured by different tools.

Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library to identify all relevant literature published up to November 22, 2023, without language restrictions, reporting adherence to ART measured by both SR and indirect measurement methods, while also analyzing individual and group adherence separately. Discrepancies between SR and indirect measurement results were assessed using the Mann-Whitney U test or Wilcoxon signed-rank test, with correlations evaluated using the Pearson correlation coefficient.

Associations between impulsive personality traits and HIV-related knowledge, beliefs and behaviours among college students in Chengdu, China: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Impulsive personality traits (IPTs) are key predictors of individuals' engagement in sexual risk behaviours. This study investigated the associations between IPTs and HIV-related knowledge, beliefs and behaviours among Chinese college students.

Methods: A sample of 1062 freshmen (first year) and sophomore (second year) students was obtained through stratified random sampling from 11 universities and colleges in Chengdu, China.

Although some works have used graph-based methods or convolutional neural networks to separate the choroid layer from the outer-choroid structure, few works focused on further distinguishing the inner-choroid structure, such as the choroid vessel and choroid stroma.

Here, this study aims to disclose the role of LINC-PINT in cancer development, which may contribute to improving the clinical outcomes of LSCC treatment. LINC-PINT expression in LSCC tissues and in TU-177 and Hep-2 cells was quantified, and subsequently, the association between LINC-PINT and LSCC malignancies was analyzed.

Liangshan is one of the areas severely affected by both HIV and poverty in China. We investigated associations between perceptions of social norms related to casual sex and the occurrence of casual sex in lifetime among Yi minority people. Participants were Yi minority people aged 15-49 years old living in Liangshan.

Impact of COVID-19 Lockdown on Physical Activity Among the Chinese Youths: The COVID-19 Impact on Lifestyle Change Survey (COINLICS).

The study sought to assess the changes in physical activity (PA) and sedentary time among Chinese youths at different stages after the COVID-19 outbreak. It was based on a retrospective online survey conducted in May 2020. More than 10,000 youths voluntarily recalled their PA-related information at three stages: before COVID-19 (January), during lockdown (February), and after lockdown (May).

Premature deaths caused by smoking in Sichuan, Southwest China, 2015-2030.

Smoking has a substantial impact on deaths from non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs). Quantitatively measuring the impact of tobacco control on population health is of great theoretical and practical importance, for governments to make health policy decisions. Focusing on premature deaths, we predicted the deaths by 2030 from major NCDs caused by smoking among people aged 30-69 years in Sichuan Province, Southwest China.

The purpose of our study was to explore the biological effects and regulatory mechanisms of lncRNA LINC01194 (LINC01194) in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). The levels of LINC01194 in 105 LSCC patients were detected by RT-qPCR.

Sexual behaviors related to HIV infection in Yi women of childbearing age in rural areas of southwest China.

Liangshan Prefecture, the highest HIV-affected epidemic region in China, has more than 2.5 million Yi people. We firstly investigated the sexual behaviors and the related social determinants of health for HIV infection in Yi women of childbearing age in this area.

Histone deacetylase 1 regulates the malignancy of oral cancer cells via miR-154-5p/PCNA axis.

Histone deacetylases (HDACs) can regulate the progression of various cancers, while their roles in oral cancer cells are not well known. Our present study found that the HDAC1 was over expressed in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cells and tissues. Targeted inhibition of HDAC1 via its specific inhibitor PCI24781 or siRNA can inhibit the proliferation of OSCC cells and increase their sensitivity to the chemo-sensitivity such as doxorubicin treatment.

Death burden of high systolic blood pressure in Sichuan Southwest China 1990-2030.

Background: Hypertension is highly prevalent and is the primary risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). While declining in some developed countries, it is increasing rapidly in some developing countries. Sichuan province is the largest and underdeveloped region in southwest China, with 486 thousand square kilometers, more than 80 million residents, unbalanced economic development, and high prevalence, low awareness, low treatment and low control rate of hypertension.

Background: Endoscopic ultrasonography guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is a well-established technique for diagnosing pancreatic malignancy. In general, tissue of pancreatic head and uncinate process lesions is obtained via a transduodenal approach. However, this tissue-acquisition modality is not applicable in cases of pyloric obstruction and duodenal bulb ulceration.

Contribution of GABAergic modulation in DRGs to electroacupuncture analgesia in incisional neck pain rats.

Purpose: Acupuncture therapy is effective for relieving postoperative pain. Our previous study showed that electroacupuncture (EA) at Futu (LI18) and Hegu (LI4)-Neiguan (PC6) could alleviate incisional neck pain, which was related with its effect in upregulating γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) expression in cervical (C3-6) dorsal root ganglions (DRGs); but whether its receptor subsets GABAα2R and GABAR1 in C3-6 DRGs are involved in EA analgesia or not, it remains unknown.

[Effect of Kangfuxin liquid combined with Garlicin Capsules in treatment of children with recurrent oral ulcer and on immune regulation].

Purpose: To study the effect of Kangfuxin liquid combined with Garlicin Capsules in treatment of children with recurrent oral ulcer (ROU) and on immunological regulation.

Methods: This randomized controlled clinical study prospectively enrolled 204 patients with ROU who were randomly divided into 2 groups. Patients in group A received Garlicin Capsules 1/time, 3 times/d, combined with Kangfuxin liquid 10 mL to gargle 3 times/d; patients in group B only received Kangfuxin liquid 10 mL gargle 5 min, 3/d.

We aimed to analyze factors related to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection among 15 to 25-year-old rural unmarried Yi adolescents in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture from 2011 to 2016, and to investigate the relationship among the HIV-related risk factors.Three sites (Butuo, Zhaojue, and Ganluo counties) with a Yi population were selected from 2011 to 2016 in Liangshan prefecture. We used questionnaires to investigate demographic and behavioral characteristics and performed HIV testing.

Long non-coding RNA AFAP1-AS1/miR-320a/RBPJ axis regulates laryngeal carcinoma cell stemness and chemoresistance.

AFAP1-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA that is associated with tumorigenesis and poor prognosis in a variety of cancers. We have been suggested that AFAP1-AS1 increases tumorigenesis in laryngeal carcinoma specifically by enhancing stemness and chemoresistance. We assessed AFAP1-AS1 expression in human laryngeal specimens, paired adjacent normal tissues and human HEp-2 cells.

The role of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and its memory tasks for detecting mild cognitive impairment.

To investigate the role of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) (Beijing version) and its memory tasks on detecting different mild cognitive impairment (MCI) subtypes including amnestic MCI (aMCI) and nonamnestic MCI (naMCI) in memory clinics. A total of 121 patients with MCI and 53 healthy controls were included. Fifty-six aMCI-multiple domains (amMCI), 32 aMCI-single domain (asMCI), and 33 naMCI patients were diagnosed according to extensive cognitive tests.
