Objective: This study investigated the percentage of patients who achieved hemostasis with 4-factor prothrombin complex concentrate (4-factor PCC) 35 U/kg. The primary end point was to determine the effect of 4-factor PCC 35 U/kg on bleeding progression, assessed using computed tomography.

Methods: This was a retrospective, observational, single-center study conducted in patients with a major bleed admitted to a level 1 trauma center from May 1, 2013, to June 15, 2015, who received 4-factor PCC 35 U/kg for reversal of a direct factor Xa inhibitor taken prior to admission.

Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze pulmonary computed tomography angiography image quality and pulmonary embolism (PE) depiction comparing 2 blends of adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR) to filtered back-projection alone.

Methods: Seventy-nine consecutive patients (49 women, 30 men; 52 ± 18 years) underwent pulmonary computed tomography angiography (120 kVp, 100-600 mA) reconstructed with filtered back-projection alone (ASIR0), 30% ASIR (ASIR30), and 50% ASIR (ASIR50) for this institutional review board-approved study. Two radiologists independently assessed PE depiction and vascular characterization, which was correlated with body mass index.

The effects of 2,3-butanedione monoxime (BDM) on induction of action potential bursts were studied pharmacologically on the RP4 central neuron of giant African snail (Achatina fulica Ferussac). The effect of okadaic acid on the neuron was also tested. The RP4 neuron showed a spontaneous firing of action potential.

In this study, we report the identification of two arsenic-binding proteins from Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. The crude extract derived from CHO and SA7 (arsenic-resistant CHO cells) was applied to a phenylarsine oxide-agarose affinity column, and after extensive washing, the absorbed proteins were eluted with buffers containing 20 mM 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME) or dithiothreitol (DTT). Three differentially expressed proteins, galectin 1 (Gal-1; in the 2-ME-eluted fraction from CHO cells), glutathione S-transferase P-form (GST-P) and thioredoxin peroxidase II (TPX-II), respectively in the 2-ME- and DTT-eluted fractions from SA7 cells, were identified by partial amino acid sequence analysis after separation by SDS/PAGE.
