The diselenide bond has attracted considerable attention due to its ability to undergo the metathesis reaction in response to visible light. In our previous study, we demonstrated visible-light-induced diselenide metathesis of selenocysteine-containing linear peptides, allowing for the convenient generation of peptide libraries. Here, we investigated the transformation of linear and cyclic peptides containing the -(2-selenoethyl)glycine moiety.

Peptide nucleic acids (PNA) are molecules that mimic natural nucleic acids. They are a promising matrix in such reactions because they possess high affinity and specificity in their interactions.

Selenium is a non-metallic element that has a similar electronic configuration to sulfur. However, due to its larger atomic size and lower electronegativity, it is more nucleophilic than sulfur.

In this study, the association of AKI with renin angiotensin system (RAS) inhibitor treatment and its clinical consequences were examined in COVID-19 patients admitted to our hospital during the initial stages of the pandemic.
Methods: A total of 407 patients between 18 and 85 years of age (202 male and 205 female) admitted to the Umraniye Research And Training Hospital between May 2020 and August 2020 with a diagnosis of COVID-19 were included in the study.
Objective: The present study aims to assess the short- and long-term effects of tofacitinib (TOFA) therapy on efficacy, safety, and drug retention rate patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) refractory to conventional synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (csDMARDs) and/or biological disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs).
Methods: Thirty-five patients with RA who received TOFA therapy for at least 3 months in rheumatology outpatient clinic between December 2015 and December 2020 were included in the study. The prospectively follow-up results of the patients obtained on the 6 month and 5 year are presented.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of malnutrition according to the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) criteria in community-dwelling older adults in Turkey.
Methods: Malnutrition was assessed based on the GLIM criteria, and Mini-Nutritional Assessment-Short Form was used for screening. The severity of malnutrition was determined as severe or moderate based on the phenotypic criteria of GLIM.
Background: Anti-cytokine treatments are used in the treatment of severe COVID-19. Other studies have shown statistical significance with TNF inhibitors but not with other biological/targeted synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (b/tsDMARD).
Objectives: Compare the rate of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-COV-2) infection and the course and incidence of COVID-19 infection in patients who received b/tsDMARD with control patients.

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a systemic fibroinflammatory disease of unknown etiology and pathogenesis, which can affect all organs. The most commonly involved organs are the pancreas, hepatobiliary system, salivary glands, orbits and lymph nodes. Rarely, the thyroid, pituitary, aorta, lung and kidney may also be involved; mesenteric involvement is rare.

Objective: The aim of the study is to determine the prevalence and associated factors of reduced bone mineral density (BMD) among men with suppressed viral load taking antiretroviral therapy.
Methods: The study was conducted as a cross-sectional design between January to April 2019.

Objectives: Patients being treated with anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha (anti-TNF-alpha) agents were reported to have better prognosis related to COVID-19. We evaluated the factors affecting the frequency, clinical course, and outcome of COVID-19 in patients treated with anti-TNF-alpha agents.
Methods: Patients with rheumatoid diseases and chronic inflammatory bowel diseases treated with anti-TNF-alpha agents were evaluated retrospectively.
Background: Monocytes play a central role in Covid-19 infection. Monocytopenia is especially observed in patients with severe infection. In our study, we aimed to investigate the effects of monocytopenia on survival in patients presenting with the suspicion of Covid-19.

Objective: In this cohort study, we aimed to report the disease characteristics and variables associated with COVID-19 outcome among Turkish patients with IRDs.
Methods: Between April and June, 2020, 167 adult IRD patients with COVID-19 were registered from 31 centers in 14 cities in Turkey.

The aim of this case-control study was to evaluate the retention and safety of conventional disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs in older patients with RA.In this observational case-control study, we assessed older patients with RA (≥65 years) who were diagnosed in 3 different rheumatology centers from Turkey.

In contrast to previously reported radical metathesis of disulfide bridges in cysteine derivatives, this newly developed reaction is fast and clean, and proceeds without decomposition of peptides and without formation of side products. The diselenide bond in peptides was reported in literature to be more stable than the disulfide one and also less susceptible to metathesis induced by thiols and reducing reagents.

Methods We studied 66 premenopausal female SLE patients (20 with MetS) and 28 female healthy controls (HCs) without history of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Subclinical atherosclerosis was screened by measuring carotid intima media thickness (CIMT).

The recognition of functional disability related to RA could be challenging in elderly patients because aging itself and potential co-morbid disease may also cause functional disability. In this study, we aimed to look at the correlation between disease activity and functional disability in elderly RA patients.

The mise-en-pratique for the definition of the kelvin at high temperatures will formally allow dissemination of thermodynamic temperature either directly or mediated through high-temperature fixed points (HTFPs). In this paper, these two distinct dissemination methods are evaluated, namely source-based and detector-based. This was achieved by performing two distinct dissemination trials: one based on HTFPs, the other based on absolutely calibrated radiation thermometers or filter radiometers.
