Geostatistical modelling improves prediction of abundance and distribution in soybean fields.

Charcoal rot, caused by the soilborne fungus (Mp) poses a serious threat to soybean health and harvests at a global scale. Mp exhibits varying distribution patterns across fields, which complicates our ability to predict disease occurrences and outbreaks. Therefore, determining the spatial distribution of Mp abundance and its relation with soil physicochemical properties would help to inform precision management decisions for mitigating charcoal rot.

Association between the practice of fitness-related exercises and body image dissatisfaction in adolescents from Curitiba (PR), Brazil.

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the association between participation in fitness-related exercises (FRE) and body image dissatisfaction (BID) in adolescents and evaluate the interaction between physical exercise and nutritional status in this association.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2015 involving 799 adolescents (10-16 years old) from 14 public schools in Curitiba (PR), Brazil. BID was assessed using the Body Shape Questionnaire and the Silhouette Scale.

Use of yeasts from different environments for the control of Penicillium expansum on table grapes at storage temperature.

A wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables is attacked by Penicillium species causing diseases during their postharvest handling. Many of these species are psychrotrophic and they are able to cause food spoilage at refrigeration temperature as happens with table grapes. After the harvest, grape bunches are stored inside boxes with SO generator pads to reduce the contamination with fungal conidia.
