Aims: Bacterial translocation, defined as the presence of living bacteria or bacterial fragments in both mesenteric lymph nodes or systemic circulation, can cause a severe inflammatory reaction in patients with cirrhosis. This study aimed to compare lipid peroxidation associated with liver damage in different experimental models of bile duct ligation: proximal double ligation and transection versus proximal simple ligation versus sham.

Objective: Postauthorisation observational studies are crucial source of information on drug effectiveness and safety. The objectives of this work were to describe the characteristics of the postauthorisation observational prospective studies (EPA-SP) for which authorisation was requested in the Valencian region, as well as to explore which factors influenced the aforementioned authorisation.

Methods: We performed a retrospective analytical study comprising all the EPA-SP for which authorisation was requested in the Valencian region between 2010 and 2015.

The pharmacokinetic profile of intravenous acetaminophen administered to critically ill multiple-trauma patients was studied after 4 consecutive doses of 1 g every 6 hours. Eleven blood samples were taken (predose and 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240, 300, and 360 minutes postdose), and urine was collected (during 6-hour intervals between doses) to determine serum and urine acetaminophen concentrations. These were used to calculate the following pharmacokinetic parameters: maximum and minimum concentrations, terminal half-life, area under serum concentration-time curve from 0 to 6 hours, mean residence time, volume of distribution, and serum and renal clearance of acetaminophen.
