Effectiveness and safety of Methotrexate in psoriasis: an eight-year experience with 218 patients.

Background: Methotrexate (MTX), a traditional antipsoriatic drug, is very frequently used either as monotherapy or in combination with other systemic drugs.

Objectives: To assess the effectiveness and safety of MTX in psoriasis in usual clinical practice.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study.

Extensive, non-healing scalp ulcer associated with trauma-induced chronic osteomyelitis.

A 77-year-old woman presented with a trauma to the scalp caused from the blade of a windmill. The condition was persistent from the past 50 years. At the initial examination, a deep, foul-smelling and well-circumscribed ulcer was apparent on the head region, involving the majority of the cranium.

Treatment of folliculitis decalvans with tacrolimus ointment.

Folliculitis decalvans is an embarrassing and challenging disease with no established treatment guidelines. In this paper, we described four patients with this disease treated successfully with Tacrolimus ointment. All of them showed significant control of the condition, stopping inflammatory lesions and progression of the disease, although weak transitory outbreaks of inflammatory lesions were observed in some cases.

Utility of myeloperoxidase stain in the differential diagnosis of leukemia cutis vs. hystiocitoid Sweet syndrome.

Leukemia cutis is defined as a skin infiltration by leukemic cells. The diagnosis of myeloid leukemia cutis (MLC) can represent a challenge, especially in those cases without symptoms of systemic disease. The clinical appearance, histopathological analysis and immunohistochemical profile can be indistinguishable from those observed in cases of hystiocitoid Sweet syndrome (HSS).
