Background And Aim: Surgically assisted rapid maxillary expansion (SARME) is a surgical technique widely used to correct deficiency of the transverse maxillary dimension. Although some studies investigated the effect of SARME on nasal and facial alterations, there is no evidence that correlates nasal septal deviation (NSD) to SARME as a possible postoperative sequel. This study assessed the antiproliferative effect in vitro of the flower hexane extract obtained from Mentha spicata associated with Mentha rotundifolia against the human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7), human mouth epidermal carcinoma (KB), and mouse embryonic fibroblast (NIH 3T3) cell lines, using sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay. A cell density of 2×10(4)/well was seeded in 96-well plates, and samples at different concentrations ranging from 10 to 500 mg/mL were tested.
