Background: The global burden of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) poses a challenge in the context of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) programmes. We aimed to explore factors associated with prevalent, incident, and recurrent STIs in men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women on PrEP in Brazil, Mexico, and Peru.

Methods: ImPrEP was a prospective, single-arm, open-label, multicentre study that enrolled MSM and transgender women in the context of the public health systems of Brazil (14 sites), Mexico (four sites), and Peru (ten sites) between February, 2018, and June, 2021.

Background: Previous WHO guidance on tenofovir disoproxil fumarate-based oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) suggests measuring creatinine levels at PrEP initiation and regularly afterwards, which might represent barriers to PrEP implementation and uptake. We aimed to systematically review published literature on kidney toxicity among tenofovir disoproxil fumarate-based oral PrEP users and conducted an individual participant data meta-analysis (IPDMA) on kidney function among PrEP users in a global implementation project dataset.

Methods: In this systematic review and meta-analysis we searched PubMed up to June 30, 2021, for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) or cohort studies that reported on graded kidney-related adverse events among oral PrEP users (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate-based PrEP alone or in combination with emtricitabine or lamivudine).

The study aimed to assess the methodological quality of guidelines by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and World Health Organization (WHO) on surveillance and clinical management of dengue and chikungunya. This was a descriptive study in which the tool Appraisal of Guidelines for Research & Evaluation Reporting Checklist II (AGREE II) was applied by four evaluators in independent and masked fashion for six guidelines. Each evaluator assigned a score from 1 (disagree completely) to 7 (agree completely) to the 23 items in the AGREE II domains: scope and purpose; stakeholder involvement; rigor in the development; clarity of presentation; applicability; and editorial independence.
