Bilateral decompressive craniectomy as a damage control strategy for a preschooler multilobar bihemispheric firearm injury: a case report and systematic review.

The absence of guidelines for managing gunshot wounds to the head (GSWH) with bihemispheric lesions in pediatric patients highlights the need for prompt and diverse damage control strategies. This article aims to systematically evaluate the evidence surrounding the management of GSWH in preschoolers and to report a novel approach. We present a case of a 4-year-old girl who sustained a gunshot wound to the left parietal region.

The Efficacy of Vaccination in the Prevention of Renal and Genital Leptospirosis in Experimentally Infected Sheep.

(1) Background: Leptospirosis, mainly determined by strains belonging to serogroup Sejroe, has a direct impact on the reproductive efficiency of ruminants, such as sheep. In Brazil, serovar Guaricura, known to be able to chronically colonize the uterine environment, is of special note. Although vaccination minimizes the effects of acute disease, whether or not it can protect from renal colonization remains controversial, and its effects on the genital tract are unknown.

Renal teratoma: Literature review and case report.

The teratomas are derived neoplasms of totipotent embryonic cells and are extremely rare. We reported a Renal tumor on the right in a 36 years old patient, incidentally detected by imaging exams as a large and complex cystic lesion. Radical nephrectomy was performed with histopathological diagnosis of mature teratoma.

The impact of rapid on-site evaluation on thyroid fine-needle aspiration biopsy: A 2-year cancer center institutional experience.

Background: The impact of rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) on thyroid aspirates has been a matter of extensive debate. In the current study, the authors reviewed all thyroid fine-needle aspiration biopsies (FNABs) performed in their service in recent years to evaluate the impact of ROSE on final adequacy and diagnostic rates.

Methods: All ultrasound-guided FNABs of the thyroid performed between July 2015 and July 2017 were included retrospectively.

Long-term management of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis with dupilumab and concomitant topical corticosteroids (LIBERTY AD CHRONOS): a 1-year, randomised, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial.

Background: Dupilumab (an anti-interleukin-4-receptor-α monoclonal antibody) blocks signalling of interleukin 4 and interleukin 13, type 2/Th2 cytokines implicated in numerous allergic diseases ranging from asthma to atopic dermatitis. Previous 16-week monotherapy studies showed that dupilumab substantially improved signs and symptoms of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis with acceptable safety, validating the crucial role of interleukin 4 and interleukin 13 in atopic dermatitis pathogenesis. We aimed to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of dupilumab with medium-potency topical corticosteroids versus placebo with topical corticosteroids in adults with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis.

Impact of immunogenicity on response to anti-TNF therapy in moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis: results of the PREDIR study.

Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the relationship between loss of clinical response to anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) therapy and the production of anti-drug antibodies (ADAs) and the potential effects of biologic immunogenicity.

Materials And Methods: This observational, non-interventional, cross-sectional study included patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and secondary failure of adalimumab, etanercept and infliximab who were seen in the clinical practice setting. Clinical data and blood samples were collected after patient enrollment at the time that next doses of anti-TNF therapy were scheduled.

Pathologically confirmed malignant syphilis using immunohistochemical staining: report of 3 cases and review of the literature.

Malignant syphilis is a rare ulcerative variety. In the classical description of the disease, the absence of spirochetes in tissue samples was considered as a diagnostic criterion. We report 3 cases of malignant syphilis; in all of them, spirochetes were identified in cutaneous biopsy samples using immunohistochemical staining.
